What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

I wish I could get 45 mpg!

The b7 averages 27-29. The S4 is 24 mpg.

I suspect the brakes on your new car are the same as the TFSI Special Edition - 320mm discs

I was being followed by a mate in a vw caddy work van without sat nav and the a1 had road works so 50mph for a good distance

Haven’t had the front wheels off yet but the disks look about that ,compared to my 314mm on my 2.0 tdi 170 ,it’s the callipers tho ,completely dwarf the callipers on the 2.0

Yeah mine ranges from mid 20's to high 30's on a run with a K04 tfsi quattro.

Depends on how fruity I'm feeling. Driven gently it'll reward you with MPG but no smiles.

That’s one leg out (rain stopped play ) ready for new shock and spring ,such an advantage having done it before /knowing you might as well put new top mounts in /bump stops etc and being off road and in no rush.Might even have a go at the dreaded pinch bolt

Does that mean I’ve got the carriers already

18z's are a different caliper , given the conversion is not silly money these days it is far better to go 18z over doing the s4 mod, well that's my view and 18z's look way better painted than the OE chunks of iron ore.....

Nothing big, but changed the standard filter over to a Pipercross Panel filter.
As you can see it definitely needed doing.

I thought it might be actually, they do a proper job down there. I currently have an A5 s line wheel with grey stitching

Well Rob after saying to your good self many months ago and having decided myself a good while before that I was gonna get a petrol Quattro avant and I was willing to wait for the right car …I’ve bought another diesel ,3ltr this time. It’s an 07 just ticked past 100k. i did get the Quattro bit though.I may be wrong and happy to be put right as I’m wondering myself ,I believe it’s dpf less.great spec ,zenons ,Drl,cruise ,black headliner, the obligatory 2 tone leather (new combo to me tho ..it’s like a very light grey /dark grey ).Great condition, very clean .Full Audi history.Quite unmolested aside from some spacers and non factory wheels(I believe) as i bought it with what I think are Audi mark 1 tt alloys on it ,18 8j et 43.Now the big change for me as a through and through manual man is the tiptronic.Never owned one and thought I never would but combined with the 3.0 I was very impressed.Such a easy relaxed drive with a good bit of power when needed (it’s been mapped ).it’s also had the paddles fitted .Time will tell but very happy with it ,nervous as it was a great price and sometimes that’s not a good thing
Now the hunt for suspension begins again ,thinking hr this time or eicbach pro ,less options now

Nice car, pictures??

If it is Tiptronic make sure you get the gear box serviced. I never really knew about that and it was the death of my A6 2.5tdi q. All the earning signs were there, but I was ignorant to them.
And with a remappping, I could get 50mpg on a steady run

The service book has OG7 which comes up as tiptronic,I believe this is what you get with the Quattro .I did ring Audi about gearbox as has full history and they said sealed for life ,I’ve heard contradicting advise ,2 gear box specialists said to me every 40k but 1 did mention they’d do a sample test as if it’s never been done ,doing it can dislodge debris and cause issues.
What were the warnings ..everything seems pretty smooth and without issue at the min
It’s not on road yet ,I’ve swapped my b8s over and I’m waiting for springs

Looks great spec. Even looks good with the chrome. What're your plans?

Thanks ! I’m not a fan of the chrome however on darker versions I think it looks good, adds a nice contrast and really freshens it up.mine has gone a bit milky in places so I have had a quote to de chrome and rear tints of 300 ,which I thinks quite good and judging by some of the motors they were doing the know their onions
I may well go chrome again but still in 2 minds
Hr 45s as soon as they arrive ,a set of my 19s ,probably the bbs speed lines as their colour is the most suitable.Custom tune and cat back exhaust dual, twin and an s4 rear valance would be nice further down the line.I fancy some Carbon trim and an rs4 grille.Maybe further on still some 18z
Gotta get the gearbox looked into first make sure that’s all good and a full service

My ex-wife used to drive it every day and occasionally reported it "jumping out of gear".
I mocked her saying "how can it, it's an automatic?"
Then the final straw was with me driving (luckily).
We were heading over to my sister in law's in Congleton. I came off the M60 onto the A54 and it was locked up in top gear. The A54 is all roundabouts and I was having to time it so I didn't need to stop.
It was getting hotter and hotter and I thought maybe if I stopped, and switched off it would reboot the transmission. But then again it might not.
As we were only about 5 miles to go I pressed on, but with 100m to my destination the gearbox let go in a cloud of hot oil.
It was recovered to my local indy specialist and they were stumped until a strip down. It could have been trivial, it could have been major.
I sold it as a non-runner on eBay, and never did find out.
I would listen to the gearbox experts and not Audi, and get it serviced.

That's why I steer well clear of auto boxes, Give me a manual all day long.

The Tiptronic box was great effortless driving, and coupled to quattro you could just boot it away from traffic lights/roundabouts with no fear of a fluffed gear change.
But given my experience I'll always think they are a bit fragile.
Maybe multitronic is better and I was just unlucky.
