One of the first things I decided I was going to change on my new A4 Avant was to add a glovebox CD changer and Aux In / Bluetooth connectivity.
The car has RNS-E fitted.
As there is no glovebox CD changer the space at the top of this box will not hold a CD changer...
A quick search on ebay to find a glovebox or liner, CD changer and connecting cable...
On my old A4 I had used a XCarLink Bluetooth unit and found it worked pretty well so ordered one compatible with RNS-E, it came with ipod cable but I have no use for that, only Aux In, USB and Bluetooth.
In the pic above you can see the new box fitted, CD changer installed and the cable for the Bluetooth unit fed through one of the pop-out squares on the back of the glovebox.
This is the connecting cable needed to hook up the Changer, the Bluetooth unit hooks up to this too so just follow the guide supplied with the cable and everything will work fine. Best if you have the special tools for removing pins from the Audi connectors as they are a pain to do. I just about managed with a metal hair clip. Get the tools and save youself a half hour of swearing at cables.
Another small job was to change the lock over from my old glove box to the new one, in the two pics below you can see the lock screw to remove and where to insert a flat head screwdriver to pop the lock out carefully...
This is it all up and running. The cable you see is for the bluetooth button and mic for handsfree, I still have to figure a good route to get it into the cabin discreetly, a job for the next few days.
A quick idea of how it works, for example if you have the Radio on and you switch to CD and select Changer (no coding needed for new changer) the first time it will play from CD chager, switch to Radio and back again to CD this time the audio is from the Bluetooth unit.
I'm sure there are easier ways to get Aux-In and Bluetooth but I chose this as I had used it before
