Don't know for sure. But like I said I heard they have the same injectors with different map for more power.

Like I said, some AVF AWX are fitted with the PD550’s. Mostly in the Passats
In Audi the engine is mostly fitted with PD520

Good to know.. This is news to me..
Are they better than the ones in audi? Do you have any gains with just swapping injectors?

Im swapping injectors because I’m fitting the BV43-109 turbo..
If I didn’t swap them, it would run out of diesel at 180bhp’ish..
The bigger 550 can deliver diesel up to around 230

The turbo and injectors will give me ~200bhp/400nm on stock IC
Fmic would give another ~10 bhp

All in all it will look stock and be quite fast.

    Around 6.5-7 sec to 62mph(100kmh)

And those injectors which models have them?
I want the bv43. Where did you get yours?
And the injectors from the 2.0 a4 with 170bhp. With those for sure diesel would flow very well.
Fmic will be at some point as well..
    I like those figures.

Don’t know if those injectors will fit as the 2.0 have two bolts for securing, where the 1.9 only have one..

BV43 is the limiting factor on a PD130 rather than injectors, not saying PD150 injectors won't give a marginal benefit but for me they were never worth fitting and if I was swapping injectors I'd of gone for bigger than PD150 injectors with a bigger turbo to suit but I'm happy with where I'm at.

In a nut shell stock injectors will fuel for more bhp than a BV43 can make.

Won't it at least reach 200?
Thats my goal. If I can get more, better.. But I'm aiming to 200.
And didn't someone say that stock injectors are good till about 200?

Depends who's mapping it, what other supporting mods the car has and what dyno it's on.

I'm not the only one over 200bhp with stock injectors.

Mine has a gutted cat, egr delete, panel filter.
    If I were to fit PD170 injectors and the bv43 I would get 200 easy wouldn't I?

    Again...
Not all injectors are the same in the AVF engine. So saying stock will do for the BV43 isn’t correct all the time.
Mine is fitted with the smaller PD520 and they can’t make the 200.

Diference between AVF and AWX is the gearbox, either and all PD130 A4's have injectors to fuel about 220bhp on the absolute limit and their are a good few examples of this. Again I'm not suggesting against PD150 injectors as people do use them plus they are marginally better and safer but again as I say BV43 is the limiting factor.

Edit: If your really not sure on this I'm happy to scan mine on Vag Com and show we have the same injectors (mine is AWX if that's not already known or assumed).

Then why are AVF/AWX engines fitted with either PD520 or PD550??

Could be that the PD520 can make the 200bhp, but would be on their limits and not very recommended.

Was told by a tuner, not to use the injectors my car is fitted with, to run with the BV43

    I’m not going for a 250 bhp.
Just a safe setup around the +200.

Besides, running oem clutch and DMF is also a limiting factor, as the DMF isn’t happy about torque above the 400-420nm
And running that should be after the 2500 rpm

They're not fitted with either they both have 520cc.

    250bhp is not possible with a BV43.

    Worry about the clutch afterwards.

Again.. Perhaps it’s the geographical difference.
520 no can do 200 here..
Out of juice.. Will be running max on duty cycle.. Ruin your engine

Do you live on a mountain :playful:

This is based on experience and what the rest of the Internet says rather than speculation.

I'll leave you to it though, not interested in helping someone adament injectors will only fuel 180bhp when the person they're speaking to has 205bhp and others have more, complete ignorance.

Could be possible, but with injectors running max effort.
One of Denmark’s finest diesel tuner is telling me this..
Any way.. let’s end it here.
I’m fitting the 550cc injectors, as they are refurbished and cheap.. So it will only be 200£ more + bolts.
I’ll rate be safe than sorry

Sorry for the late reply Jonni, been away for work.

To be honest as much as i want to say keep the cabby, i DO know how you feel. Maybe it is time!

A 3L TDI would be lovely! All that torque is just sublime.

I myself have invested too much for me to do the above. Instead my car is 'in' getting more tuning works done.

    Went for a stage 1 remap at AMD Essex & I came away with 173.3hp@5162rpm & 270.8Nm@3361rpm.
Firstly they wouldn't map it due to high rpm knock, changed the plugs & maf (which was fouled up) & the knock went away so back on the rollers for a base line run @ 143hp & 223.4Nm at similar rpm's.

Turns out the fuel pump is worn & can no longer flow like it used to when it's needed @ high rpm's which causes it to run lean = knock which the ecu detects & does it's wizardry to protect the engine & reduces power. Hence the lower than expected figure once mapped, more boost requires more fuel.

So with a new pump & filter it should be good for 190-195 ish hp & 320 ish Nm. The increased torque & hp is already a transformation & that'll be enough for me once it's running as it supposed to be.

AMD estimated it was running at around 120ish hp when I took it in .
Having never driven another cab or a4 I had no comparison benchmark.

Blimey that's a bit of a kick in the teeth, bet it feels much better now though, might be worth changing the fuel filter as well and possibly other serviceable items along with putting some premium fuel in before getting it on the rollers again (presuming you are getting it on the dyno again to check the measurable difference). I have no experience with AMD and I know this isn't what you want to hear but I had mine mapped by three different tuners before I was happy with the power, torque and linear line on the graph, I mean it could just be that the rollers are pessimistic as I've also gained/lost around 10bhp from dyno to dyno, might be worth posting up the graph as sometimes people here have a bit of insight or second opinion if we spot something (especially if someone like Bill at Badger 5 or Rick at Unicorn or any other tuners that frequent the forum see the graph, still best swapping the pump as they say as the first port of call).

Cheers Jake,I'll post the graph up later when I have access to a scanner, trying to photograph something that's laminated is a p.i.t.a.
Was planning on doing the fuel filter as well, it runs on tesco mometum 99.
Im not chasing big power, just want it a bit more usable which it certainly is now over how it used to be.

    Hunting some starting issues.
Battery is relatively new. Fully charged the voltmeter says 12.76V

Tried to see if I had any parasitic drainage..
This is the amp reading after all the modules are snoozing
    [IMG]

20mA ?? Shouldn’t cause starting issues after 3-4 hours of driving with a fully charged battery.

At home and at work I have a DEFA water heater and the smart charger 1204 running for 6-7 hours before going to work or going home.

    So no starting issues there.

But last night after the cars was stopped for 3-4 hours I only just got it started, but clock was reset and it was blinking for bulb errors (reversing lights, they are LED) The error went away after half a minute or so..

So next move is perhaps to check the wiring from the starter?

Only thing was amps in the battery said 500 something and not the 760 it says on the battery.

I've had a brand new Bosch S4 battery fail within 2 weeks of being on a car. It always showed over 12.5v. It was the cranking amps it was way down on. Was rated at 740, but only producing 350. The test was carried out by the RAC and the battery was swiftly replaced under warranty.

NOT all batteries that have failed will show a poor voltage.

My mech was swapping injectors when the thread snapped TDI AVF

    Anyone tried helicoiling them?

He checked if longer helicoils are available and they should be.

How about in the long run?

Can’t stand thinking about swapping the head now...

Got the injectors fitted today, all four bolt holes got new thread. A specialist did the job, also fitted the injectors and calibrated them.

The cars starts easily, but runs rough for a few seconds, and then idles a bit more rough than with the oem injectors.
    Nothing when driving.

My tuner says it should run normal even with the AL injectors

    Here’s block 13

My tuner said, when he saw the video, that it will go away with the remap.
So off to remap and close this chapter

I did say that would happen as there are two calibration tables for the injector BIP values and voltage calibration and they are different between the ARL injectors and the standard injectors. If your tuner uses a base map off a car with ARL injectors then you will be OK, alternatively he could alter the two calibration maps for the injector timing. Idle is not as smooth and the fuel economy won't be as good when you have the wrong calibration tables for the injector.

The car hasn’t been remapped with the ARL injectors, or the BV43..
    I’m sending the ecu today.
He already has a map for the AVF engine retrofitted with ARL and BV43.

Perhaps a little bold of me thinking that my car will run straight with to major components changed and the ecu not knowing about it..

I’ll let you know the results when the ecu returns

Yesterday, I lost a fanbelt, lost power steering, battery completely flat and stood around in what looked like it was going to become a rather nasty thunderstorm waiting for the RAC. So if anyone passed a red A4 cabriolet on the A509 - that was me. Grr...

    The problems just wont stop.

Anyone had problems fitting the ecu?

Fitted the ecu yesterday but engine stalls spontaneously.
There are no errors in engine, but abs light comes on with the code p1850. It’s communication with the ecu.

Also in block 125 the “engine” goes from 1 to 0 when the engine stalls. Meaning it looses communication somewhere in the canbus.

I will look at the ecu connectors today as they can be the only culprit I can imagine...

Anyone experienced bending pins when fitting the connectors in ecu? How much can go wrong??

    Yes I’ve read that..
But, if the fuse is blown or a wire is broken wouldn’t the symptoms be there all the time..

The car can idle sometimes 20 sec like normal and suddenly stall.
Then sometimes it will not start only turn.
    Or start but stall immediately.

    Symptoms seems periodically.

Don’t know how a remap in boot mode is done, could that be the problem.

A well renowned tuner has done it...

I shipped the ecu to him. He put in the map for an AVF with retrofitted ARL injectors and BV43 turbo..

And the car ran as expected before the remap
