I finally fitted a replacement solenoid for the boot lid on my s-line avant - an annoying niggle sorted! Thanks to those who posted the relevant show threads (not to hand right now)!

Managed to get a hard pipe from darkside developments from the front mount kit and get rid of that pesky plastic pipe and crap c clip pipe.

I bought the pipe on its own for £90 + vat and delivery and then bought a 90 bend 57mm for the bottom connection to the standard intercooler.

Bit of polishing and it's all been fitted.

Speaking of boost leaks..
The turbo side in the engine bay in mine, is covered in oil.. there's no extraordinary oil consumption.
I'm thinking it's the turbo/IC connection, from where the oil is sprayed from..
Anyone had this issue??

Thanks dude.

Was very easy mate and don't think I felt any difference but the boost holds higher. I would say it's slightly louder on acceleration now as it resonates mores with the hard pipe.

Never thought of the noise, maybe that's why Audi didn't have one as standard, hate the standard pipe to be honest which is why I have same one as yours  looks more pretty too haha, then again my engine bay isn't the most beautiful looking as I've pulled all the covers and anything fancy off.

I hate the covers also. Just in the process of making my own carbon engine cover :)

A BIG thank you to @DieselJake for selling the Meyle HD Control Arm Kit to me.

My Mech has fitted all the parts except the upper control arms and must say, so far they are fantastic. Absolutely loving the drive this morning.

The bushes in them are slighlty more filled out giving a stiffer ride which i much prefer. The kit just sharpens everything up and coupled with my rs4 ARB, im loving the drive.

Also Fitted Mtec drilled rotors and EBC Redsutff pads. The cars literally stops on a dime!!! Amazing pads.

Thank you to ALL that helped me along the way thus far.

NEXT up;

HEL brake lines (got 'em) and AP coilovers.

..then FMIC instal and remap.

Sexy wheels..
Hunting for a set of those.

Thanks dude.

The key for the hunt is the word search i kid you not.

Contrary to popular belief, they are not called RS5 or RS6 5 spokes!

They are either called 'audi peeler' wheels

or

'audi 5 segment' wheels.

Thank me later :p

I didn't know about the audi 5 segment name.
And I always thought they were audi rs6 peelers. That's how I've been referimos to them from almost 3 years since I got my audi.
I will thank you if I get them..
Cheers for the info..

Hmmm, went to fit new engine speed sensor, unbolted the old one, wiggled it out then fitted the new one in place. I then tried to fit the bolt but the bolt won't go through the hole in the new sensor. Luckily I left the old sensor connected up and to the side so I just refitted it.
I was going to replace it before it failed, I guess that will have to wait a little longer, preventative maintenance didn't work out for me this time

Been hunting an oil leak.. first I swapped the rocker cover gasket.
Then I saw the EGR valve was covered in oil beneath.
Took it off the inlet manifold, the rubber seal was hard as metal and flat as paper. Sealed it with some liquid gasket maker. Then washed the engine over and under.. Damn all those years of oil dripping... now it's dry and clean..
Let's see if the EGR was the problem..

Now a question:
Driver door is saggy only just when it's about to close. I can move the door a bit up and down..
If I take it a notch out I'm no longer able to move it..

Can the hinge pins be replaced, thinking of the lower one(most stress) or is it a complete unit???

Or can I do something else?

No worries.

I found the name out when i was trawling through American audi forums like Audizine. Its also actually the official name for them (Audi 5 Segment)

Cool :)

I usually refer to them as RS6 wheels... although I've got the old 19" RS6/S-Line wheels which look allot different and make it more confusing haha :playful:

They look ace by the way! Haven't seen them in black before and I'm a massive fan now

I used to also, but they arent actually RS6 wheels. If anything, they are S5 wheels.

Oh yes, STILL love the classic RS4/6 wheels you have. Timless in my opinion and suit all B6 and B7's. The originals are more concave and look lovely from the side.

..Thank you. I always wanted high gloss black wheels on my convertible and these were perfect for them. :)

Resecured the undertray as it was scraping the floor only to find out it still scrapes over speed bumps and rough roads anyway.

Yikes , two bad things there , Jom coilovers and elastic band 75.25mm profile tyres , and I thought 225 40 were slim !

Nowt bad about em mate. Ran em for 3 years on my mk4 golf with no problems whatsoever, you'd be surprised how comfortable it still is.

This confuses me and I guess it comes from a person of youth with fantastic connective tissues .

I have anything but good connective tissue haha. Driving a van during the week anything will feel like luxury I guess though at the weekend haha

So I fitted some new suspension yesterday, after carefully measuring the ride height on a flat surface it needed to come down 20mm front & rear. Seeing as the Sline models are 20mm lower than standard I needed to get get a -40mm kit.
I went for the ST 40/40 kit, it replaces the Weitec ultra GT kit & as they are both made by KW the quality is still there.
Fitting was this kit was both relatively easy & frustrating, the fronts was pretty easy as I avoided the dreaded pinch bolt & it took about 20 minutes to get the strut out (no impact gun).
The rears were a different story, the amount of stuff that has to come off to get the spring out is crazy , wheel arch liner, shock (obviously) handbrake cable, caliper, droplink, top control arm, loosen off rear subframe mount & thats without having to deal with rusted & seized bolts.
Still got it all done & am very happy with the ride & the stance now, although I might need to change the rear spacers to 12 or 10 mm due to a slight bit of rub sometimes.
