Decided to do the cam belt and water pump on my facelift 2008 s line tdi yesterday, I found it a bit less fiddly on the common rail engine than my older 2005 A3

When I lowered the under tray I found this spring

But couldn't find where it had come from , it was located at the back of the tray gearbox side . Any ideas ?

It's a very tiny spring about just over 50mm but very clean so not been getting rain and dirt on it

Doesn't look worn either

Taking mine for a 4 wheel alignment tomorrow as I think my NS rear has a touch of camber from when I had my coil-overs installed

Had to change n/s/f brake caliper due to binding on way home from changing cambelt /water pump Wednesday
To make matters worse I had to remove 3 locking wheel bolts as socket sheared whilst trying to undo the n/s/f, so would've been stuffed if I got a puncture

Tinted, fitted chrome wing mirrors, retrofitted a s-line front bumper and bi-xenon headlights with accompanying headlight washers and auto levelling system. A S-line tailgate/roof spoiler was fitted a week ago as well.

Lovely looking car mate, any mods planned for it ?

Thanks.
I'll do the head unit/Bluetooth for now, and I don't like the feel from the brakes.
They're a bit 'on or off ', no gradual smoothness, so that will get a look at this weekend.

Had a stage 1 remap done with egr deleted out I also fitted K&N air filter in place of standard one.

Not sure how much the air K&N will help , the car seams totally different from before pulls really well .

Can anyone tell me what a stage 2 remap would involve ?

What engine do you have? I had a stage 1 remap with egr-off done a week ago. The car pools much better, but the engine sounds louder. I have a 1.6 TDI. Did you notice any sound changes?

I have a 2:0 tdi common rail engine code CBAB , on idle I would say just slightly louder but nothing I would be worried about

Okay, mine is 1.6 TDI common rail engine code CAYC. It's louder on idle and it does a sound that reminds me of an older petrol engine that got a low octane gas (pre-ignition like pinging noise). This sound comes at every slightest acceleration. I spoke to a tuner and he said it was because I came to them after the emissions update and my car had an insert inside the inlet pipe (a flow straightener) and that a new map was based on an emission updated map. They are going to remove the flow straightener and remap the ECU with a map based on a pre-updated software. I'm looking forward to this new remap.

Took the engine out.

Why have you whipped the engine and box out what you gotta do to it

I found out today that if you are in flappy paddle mode and hang onto the downshift leaver a bit too long it goes weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee6>1 very very quickly !

Booked in for the esc control unit software update at Stansted Audi in first week of sept , courtesy car thrown in.

While on the phone they pointed out that I haven't had the emissions update carried out , I told them to not do it as it's been remapped

Came out as I've bought the car with some front end damage. Body repairer said he needed engine out to get it all perfect so out it came.
Be doing oil/filter/DSG oil changes when I put it back in. While out, just spark plugs (done), new coolant pump (some damage on old one), new drive belt and diverter valve check (done). Car should be back in a few days so just want to get it all back together again soon. If anyone's got
additional suggestions, happy to hear them...

Paid garage for oil change and fuel filter change. Fuel filter because I had no idea when it was last changed. Passed MOT emissions with my scorpion sports cats so am happy. Obligatory 3.2 spirited drive on way home to celebrate.

Tried to play with spacers last weekend in order to get rid of a slight vibration on 70+-km/t. Re-balanced one wheel and put some aluminium tape on hubs to prevent the front spacers from any possible misbalance. It didn't help unfortunately. The vibration became even more pronounced. Today, I removed the front spacers and vibration seems to disappear. Are there really no spacers that don't destroy the ride comfort?

use right ET wheels instead of spacers seem good idea.

That would be the best and easiest solution. I would do that if I didn't like my wheels or if I could afford a set of new ones with the "right" ET without loosing too much money on a price difference between new and old wheels.

that depend of you if it worth or not. or just get bigger spacers and go to some specialist to flatten the surface on them and rim, then weld them.

Swapped over to my winter wheels while the others go for a Refurb also put back on the chrome front badge
