Got some cables and connectors from the local scrapyard that broke in my A3 while retrofitting and such. I've retrofitted an USA style midconsole and those have two electric point (cigs and 12v charge). Because I originaly had the EU version it doesn't have the approriate cables underneath it. So I've cut the same cable from a scrapcar and fed it from the original loom so I have two live feeds that function as they should .
Bought myself a new sidepanel for my A3. This one has an 12V connection, got to feed the cables from battery to fusebox to the connector. Small but fun project for the weekend .
Does this only fit the sportback or will this fit the 3 door as i want one with the power outlet in the boot to but mainly that net for my tyre inflator Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
The scrapcompany I buy my stuff from has one for a 3 door too. You can message them to get a sum for shipping to UK https://www.bm-parts.nl/onderdelen?s=Bagageruimtebekleding+rechts+Audi+A3+
Thanks bud sent them an email worst case ill ask you to buy it and ship to me and ill cover all costs plus a beer Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
Took off the B pillar exterior trim pieces to wrap them. It was my first attempt at wrapping, and I think it looks good enough. Maybe more heating/stretching would have reduced the orange peely effect though?
Also restored the tired-looking steering wheel, just using a cheap Ebay restoration kit: Before: After:
Mine does exactly the same thing. Thought it was how it was meant to be Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk
Put on the glossy A3 emblem, I think it's okay but looking to get a glossy back emblem too I think.. Make a better picture in the bright sunlight this weekend, it doesn't look that good on the pic tbh haha.
Fixed the PDC and PLA holes for my retrofit (Park Distance Controle and Park Assist) Only thing left is wiring the PLA sensor for the complete system to work, waiting for two connectors and then gooooooo. (find the sensors in the bumper ) Very happy with the result.
Had a check behind your front wheel arches for dirt. You will need a T25 Torx bit. I didn't know these cars came with planters. Was worse on the other side. Got most of it out but will need a jet wash in there next time I wash the car.
Had to adjust handbrake after having new diss and pads on rear. Car decided to roll down drive despite leaving it in gear close shave Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Had a proper four wheel alignement done after the new suspension install, finally feels like a new car! Amazing how a good alignement car affect a car. Then it was time for a proper wash, paint sealant and wax.
Installed a DIY remote control. Drilled some holes on the console trim and added 4 buttons. (The remote has 4 buttons). The buttons are soldered with some wire to my remote controller buttons. The controller is powered with a add-a-fuse to the fuse box on an ignition live fuse. The buttons cannot be seen from any passenger view.
Duuuude you forgot the most important part !?!?!?!. What are the buttong for (comtrolling) the curiousty is driving me crazy Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
James bond style missile launcher for cyclists ? #fulloffencetocyclistwhothink theroadisforthempayfortaxandinsurancemaybe? Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
Haha!! Thanks all! It is remote controller for the garage. It has 4 buttons because it is underground (-3 floor) and accessed by a car elevator. 2 buttons for up and down, 2 buttons for ground floor gate and underground gate.
Very nice alittle disappointed tho wanted it to be rocket launchers Sent from my SM-N976B using Tapatalk
But you are going to fit PDC + PLA so you need another midcentre trim and need to do it all again. I got another good solution for you: https://www.kufatec.com/en/audi/a3/...ge-door-opener-cable-set-for-audi-a3-8p-38173
I just scanned mine with VCDS to check all was well. The only error is about the air quality sensor on the Auto HVAC controller: 3 Faults Found: 01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238) 007 - Short to Ground - Intermittent Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00100111 Fault Priority: 3 Fault Frequency: 6 Reset counter: 166 Mileage: 139317 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2019.10.01 Time: 14:35:39 Freeze Frame: Temperature: 18.5°C 01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238) 010 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00101010 Fault Priority: 3 Fault Frequency: 17 Reset counter: 187 Mileage: 139346 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2019.10.02 Time: 05:40:14 Freeze Frame: Temperature: 5.5°C 01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238) 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00101000 Fault Priority: 3 Fault Frequency: 3 Reset counter: 187 Mileage: 139988 km Time Indication: 0 Date: 2019.10.14 Time: 14:55:40 Freeze Frame: Temperature: 10.5°C What does this sensor do, and is it something I should concern myself with replacing? If so, any idea how much these cost and where they are hidden to?
No. Mine is different. The buttons on the midcentre trim are all independent. With one connector for each button. I will just add the 2 buttons for pdc and pla. The trim with the silver line stays as it is. Yours has a connector for the 3 left buttons, 1 for hazard switch and 1 for the 3 right buttons.
Aaaaaaaah, so thats the difference between pre- and facelift A3's then. Lol, I have bought a PDC button for a pre-facelift A3 then (still have a single PDC button laying around).
Open/ short to ground prob means the sensor died or is not connected enough (maybe disconnect and connect again does the job). The sensor itself is quite inexspensive but I have no clue where it is located.
This is supposed to temporarily switch the A/C to recirculating mode when it detects very poor air quality outside. This is cheap and easy to replace. I did so a while ago but don’t remember exactly where it was — I think under the plastic cowl (is that the right word?!) under the bonnet.
Well over the weekend I finished doing my own little way of avoiding the need to change the headunit while allowing my phone to play music and act as a sat nav so this is what I came up with: The phone charges (there is an adapter in the glovebox, as iPhone owners will know, you can't have headphones(aux) and charging at the same time due to only have 1 lightning port). When not in use, it doesn't interfere with the OEM look (unless you look real hard and see the aux cable by the handbrake!): I installed some USB ports in the glovebox which run off a switched live (used piggyback fuse adapter), and the other adapter is tucked behind it with just 1 lightning cable coming out in the glovebox: I'm pleased with how it came out, it appeases my OCD with keeping everything tidy and hidding cables as much as humanly possible
Just had my wheels refurbished. Asked for L8AU with a matte lacquer. Here's the end result. Not sure how simillar it is to OEM as my wheels were previously refurbished before buying the car but looks close enough to pics I've seen online.
I like to break the rules. I was going to wait until I had a honeycomb / RS3 grill, but I thought sod it, I’ll go Quattro today.
Wait, that's a S3 grill on an sline bumper right? I recognize the sline fog lights, or an I seeing things. If that's the case, how did you manage that?
where did you get this from? I have pre facelift 2008 but all the 1's I'd seen said was for alot never model
Well spotted. Its often mentioned, but rarely deciphered. I had a minor knock to the front and was gifted OEM S3 grill and splitter, but no bumper. Picked up an S-line bumper cheap (with fogs) and had a mate paint it all to match for free, including the grill surround. grill is a straight swap. Splitter is simply bolted on as it is on the S3 - just had to drill the holes. I had many sleepless nights over the outcome. Personally I think it looks pretty cool. It’s a blackline, so the touches of colour and finish give it a bit of contrast - I think so anyway!!
