Sorting my front grill rings, going black, snapped the clips getting the first set off, had to order another silver set from Audi as the don’t do black rings for this grill, been a pain, but worth it in the end, just need clipping on when they are dry. I thought blacking the rear was fiddly, but sorting out the front grill rings where the worse.

Done a few miles in mine from Oxfordshire up to North Wales, and enjoyed a few mountain roads in the area including Snowdonia.

Stripped down to this for inlet valve clean, rs4 fuel pressure valve install and a general clean up of parts. Replaced a O-ring seal on the vacuum pump too which was dripping oil onto the gearbox.

Started to paint the silver/black bits so it looks clean AF when you “pop the hood”

24th oil change today at 237,000 miles (381k km)

Still no issues to report:)

Nice mod!

Have you got part numbers or a link to what’s needed?

Finally got around to fitting the fan windscreen jets, great coverage! Will need to see how they do on the motorway and possibly adjust :)

I put a new set of Uniroyal RS3's on the front.
There was some life left in them, but the passenger side had a slow puncture and the uneven wear had caused excess wear on the edge so I got them both replaced. Very impressed at how them performed and lasted approx 20k miles.

this weekend I will be mostly fitting a new timing chain kit

What's the general consensus of what a "cam chain kit" is, best practice?

I see a varying selection of "kits" available ranging from just chain and tensioner (£60-80), to chain/tensioner and a handful of seals (around £108 for FAI), to a kit with seemingly just more seals etc around £250.

basic chain & tensioner - https://www.autodoc.co.uk/fai-autoparts/7814777

mid level - https://www.autodoc.co.uk/fai-autoparts/7814780

full kit - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-...uattro&hash=item4d2f819048:g:jS0AAOSwrklVCyw0

You can check the wear with vcds to see if it needs replacing

Well it tells you how much the tensioner is compensating for stretch I believe

Yea I've got a rough idea but i just can't find anything credible to what the right figure tolerance is cause when i heard about hat i looked and saw mine was at -4 degrees which some stated is good but nothing solid from.audi to state but thwn im.checking on obdeleven not vcds but its supposedly the same thing

yours I a titally different engine to mine I have a 1.4 tfsi lol

Drove the S3 upto AKS tuning for a much needed haldex, gearbox oil change aswell as transfer box. Aparently the filter was full of gunk so never trust the B.S fed from a car salesperson... told me it was done prior to purchase of the car
