Repaired a broken LIN wire in the OSF door which had broken thus killing all comms and functionality to the OSR door.

Glad to have central locking and a working window back! :)

Most of the posts in this thread are mods and nice things people have done, yet every time I do something to mine it's a ****** repair of some sort!

Anyway this week its.... 2 new front wheel bearings (one was dangerous!) 2 new front struts, 2 new front springs, 2 new top mounts, 2 new drop links, and 2 new brake disc backing plates!!

I'd have thought some of that would have been advisory on the MOT last feb but no, despite the shocking state they are all in!

FYI..... not cheap!

To be fair its not me doing the work it's a mechanic mate doing it, my car's at his because he lives near where I work, so I cant get progress pics. Much of it appears to be straight forward replacement of parts but as all the parts that are coming off are originals having done 130,000 miles, there's a few seized/rusted bolts to contend with, sorry mate. In all honesty I never do stuff like that myself anyway, I'm **** with cars

Nicely done, can only the light switch be retro fitted or can the ones in the centre console be done as well?

Do you have a link for the phone holder please? I hate having my magnet block one of the blowers.

Pulled the Throttle body off and cleaned of carbon. Bottom hex bolt was ******* to get out. Hoses were blocking the way, need to find a slimmer 5mm hex to get the angle next time. Rest of the job was straightforward, and the remote hose clamp pliers are a godsend in removing the Intake hose.
Reset the throttle body and working as good as ever.

S3 Intercooler from Smirky (sorry to wake you!) installed. Feels a lot stronger higher up the rev range.
Got some TT 3.2 front callipers and standard rears to fit with Red Stuff pads once painted.
Autotech HPFP on its way.

Changed over 3 broken coil pack clips from services gone by.

Extremely frustrating doing the first one. You will need the de-pinning tool. I cant imagine trying to get the pins out another way.
Regarding the clips, the purple locking clip has to be clipped in the unlocked position before you push the pins through. Found out the hard way and had to redo it after cursing my mouth off.. Pins were particularly hard to push in and I used a thin screwdriver to push the pins in fully.
Much better than trying to replace the whole loom.

Cleaned out the MAF with Spray IPA while I had the bonnet open. Took the MAF off from the airbox and intake hose to do this.
Wasn't dirty so no gains here. Didn't know the stock airbox had a short plastic trumpet inside, before the MAF, Interesting design.

Gave the car a wash as well.

I think that's it till next MOT. Fingers crossed that will be it for the year.

Next major thing I need to do is the timing chain, guides, tensioners and water pump.
Will get shrick 268/264 cams fitted with a remap since the cover is off.
Still deciding over ARB's as well, may be a good time to get the front one in as the engine may have to be lifted to do the chains.
Planning for this end of 2018.

Nice! I see you've been posting on this. How's the end result? Worth it?

not sure yet tbh. still awaiting noise filters and am going to try another harness from the supplier.

jury is out at the moment. i only got it in today and just got viper4 installed. the features are good, still disappointed by the sound but haven't extensively tested as yet.

Got the Wheel back from Jack @ Royal Steering Wheels. Excellent workmanship and the Alcantara feels great. Can't wait to get it on this weekend.

Full MOT. Was not looking forward as it is a decade old and just hit 100k (I say just, managed to do 900 miles in 2 weeks somehow...) but nothing passed on everything with one advisement.

Picked these up off Ebay
4.png
5.jpg

Decided to paint them the same colour as the R32 ones as I think blue looks better on my car than red.

6.jpg

As i stood back and looked at the colour I thought to my self, WTF have i done!! They looked s***! The shade of blue was terrible.
Took them to get sandblasted and picked up a better shade of blue.
Repainted them. They now look a lot better. Fitted them with some new Goodridge hoses all round.

Also had to replace the rear calipers as one was seized and the other was leaking fluid!!

Fitted Autotech HPFP and changed cam follower. little bit of wear on it.

Also changed the brake fluid. Bleeding the clutch is a right pain! Dreaded clutch pedal to the floor after doing it. Took me another 4 attempts to get it right!!
