Good choice! I had (still have) the assy5 on my old wheels. Great tyre. The only reason I chose Dunlop RT2 for my new wheels was that the assy5 are a little noisy in comparison to the RT2. I regret it, TBH, and consider to switch the tyres as I still have the assy5.

I drove it

I’m still working from home and not really used it since start of lockdown .....not even put petrol in it since 19th March. Poor thing has been idly stuck in the garage and only comes out at the moment for exercise. Detailed it on 8th May and it’s still looking spotless.

Anyway......went down some A roads and then back home on the M6. Fully warmed up.......had a nice play......booted it.......she sang like a bird and I’m missing driving it every day.

Full detail on the exterior with Meguires ceramic spray, Also fixed the black rubber around the windows, they were looking a little white from the sun so fixed that and they are looking new again.

Went on Holibobs. Not to Spain, so no quarantine thankfully. There's a lot to be said for a cracking good UK based holiday. Easy to forget we live in a ruddy nice country with many areas of outstanding natural beauty. I even went to the pub. For the first time since early March. Real Ale never tasted better.

Every decent road trip begins with a properly detailed motor. Clean cars drive better. So here's the sensible family wagon, freshly buffed, the day before we set off (I've posted a similar pic before, about 2 years ago - good to see the car's still looking as good as it was then )

I've said it before on this forum (more than once, lol) - the S3, 8V Sportback, with roof-rails, is just about the best one motor for all occasions I can think of. With the roof-box on I have more load lugging capacity than an A6 Avant, for the 2 or 3 weeks a year I need it. The rest of the time I get to not drive a dull barge.

My opinion on the S3: Anyone hoping that it is going to be a sharp, nimble, track focused lap-time slayer doesn't get the proposition. What the S3 is, is a fast, comfortable GT - capable of doing everything very well, rather than one thing excellently. And that's exactly what I want it to be. Haul big miles, quickly and comfortably and enjoy the understated way in which you are doing so. That's what the S3 is for.

We headed over to the Royal Coast of North Norfolk (pretty near Sandringham - kept an eye out for Philip pulling out of a junction randomly, lol). None of the Bournemouth over-crowding nonsense in this neck of the woods - just VAST open landscapes, and hardly another fecker around. Brilliant. It was the first time our newest member of the family (Rocco, our nutcase Boston Terrier, 10 months old), got to see the seaside. Pig. In. ****.

Got back yesterday, and then had to deal with the state the car was in. Footwells, and seats, and boot, and roof-box full of sand. And the paint was as dirty as it has ever been. The front of the car was a bug holocaust. Spent 5 hours getting my trusty steed back to showroom condition today.

Top tip: Never scrub bugs. You'll mar the paint. Let a decent citrus based bug remover do the work for you. Blast the worst of the crud off with your pressure washer, then bug spray remover, (I used Gyeon Q2M Bug and Grime), let it sit for a few minutes (never in direct sunlight, always in shade), then blast with your pressure washer again. After that you’re ready to wash the car.

Gave the interior a good detail (including a much needed leather feed, with Colourlock Leather Conditioner), and finished off the paint (already well protected with various layers of stuff), with a coat of G-Techniq C2V3, diluted 1/1 with water. End result - very shiny, and back in the garage.

I fitted a powerflex dog bone insert to my s3

Removed the snow gate fitted a proram panel filter opened up the Airbox on the right hand side and fitted the blank plate to the left rear side

I believe its called the pikey r600

Cheers Spike. Car is pretty swirl free to be honest. The best inspection lamp out there is that massive fireball in the sky - and even on a blazing sunny day, there’s no swirlage, apart from the piano black trim on the b-pillar - you only have to look at that trim and it swirls!

After a serious of kerb mishaps I decided it was time for a refurb and went with powder coating instead of diamond cutting again, so picked them up today from " The Wheel Specialists " in Aberdeen after having them done in what they describe as RS6 black or as close as they can get it which when you look closely has a multicoloured sort of fleck through it but from a distance just black. really happy with the results and think it sits well with the pearlescent sepang blue on the car.

Evening all,

Sorry not an A3/S3 but I know a lot of you have the same MMi and so on so I just wanted to show off the wireless car play dongles I just got delivered from AudiRetrofits. It was £135 which postage to Switzerland. Think it’s £99 all in for U.K. though which is cheaper than the ones that always appear on my google searches. It’s really quick at connecting, the dongle connects to the phone via Bluetooth and then to the car via the USB port. I attached/glued mine in a way so it’s always connected but I can still use the wireless charging without moving it. Can’t see any delays in operation so far.....

No rain at ALL today, it did say we might get some at mid day, but nothing.
Got two coats of polish on the car and cleaned inside.
I even got the grass cut this morning, good day doing jobs.
