What do you do for a job?

I think this just shows us how adventurous people are with their job description and how broad a spectrum of jobs we all do.
They are all important as they keep us in Audi's I think….even grooming pooches :d

I mean, I could've said I was a Canine Follicular Cosmetologist.

And I own the place if that makes any difference and have almost a 2 month waiting list. Woof.

I would love to quit my current job and become a programmer. I've started to learn Python and I want to improve, and one day, hopefully, I can quit my job and follow this path. :D

I'm a programmer myself (think I've already said in this thread, probably a few years back though) and like allot of jobs how good/bad it is really depends who you work for; I've been making websites, databases and all sorts to some degree since I was about 16 (27 now), got a Uni degree in Computer Science/Business, loads of college IT qualifications, qualifications from Google and other third parties, plus over 3.5 years commercial full time experience with a range of programming languages both front and backend work, also made a load of side projects... which all sounds great but the company I work for won't pay more than 21k, I mean that wouldn't be so bad but they didn't give me a probation review (due 2 years ago) and when I recently asked for a review they made me wait 2 months to tell me they "can't afford" to pay more despite the fact I have saved them 24k within the past few months (much more for the year but that's just one sum I know for definite) so I handed my notice in on Friday and will hopefully get something similar soon... oh and shameless plug but I live in Birmingham and have a really good portfolio if anyone's interested haha, but yeah from my experience if you work in IT you want to work for an IT company, if you work in sales you want to work for a sales company, etc etc. Last company I worked for was pure IT and they valued what I did but now I work for a recruitment company and get treated worse than the chewing gum on their shoes, during the review I was told I hadn't had one as unlike everyone else in the company I was not entitled to reviews pahaha you can just imagine how valued I felt (or should I say didn't feel).

I have a friend who sells cars for a brand of car and used to sell cars for another (not going to name names here but they're both sell similarly priced brands), he sells less cars for this new company and earns over 35k yet at the other place he'd barely scrape 16k, I know work isn't all about money but stuff like this really bugs me. Feels similar to my situation although I'd be happy earning 25k or so, tempted to go into something more sales or recruitment based just so my hard work can directly be seen by reward (commission) but that's if I don't find something similar which I fancy.

I appreciate this is an old post and don't want to get into anything too technical on here, but have you found a new position yet?

Served my full probation which ended a couple weeks ago and since then I've had a few interviews but nothing set in stone yet.

Sorry (at the end of the month it will have been 7 years since I took redundancy) sorry.

We tried the whole stay at home dad thing. Didn't work. (For the mrs). She's now the stay at home mummy. And she'll be doing school runs in my shiny new A4 when it arrives. Boohoo.

Ouch, my wife loves her job (and in the 3 years we had the previous A4 she drove it twice, didn't drive the A5 at all in 3.5 years and I doubt she will want to get behind the wheel of the current car)

Update with my work:
After 9 years in Furniture Sale and Furniture fitting/assembly in spare time, gave up for the office job in June.
My back could not handle any more and after the spine op in May and another one two weeks ago, currently on sick leave from Furniture Wholesaler.

Update for me, I am now a self employed safety consultant. Got made redundant at the beginning of August, which is probably why I've not been on here much recently, lots to do and people to see... etc.
The good news is, my 2-3 days a week, pays as much as my last job did, so happy(er) days.
I very nearly sold my A3 for an S4 and then got told I was going two days later, which was a lucky escape.
Never mind, RS3 is back on the cards.

Yes did that already mate, have passed Sandra's contact details to them, in case they decided to contact Audi-Sport directly...

Will chase them up again sometime tomorrow, if I didn't hear back from them then I may need to contact our CEO, LOL :)
