Belive me the rules and regulations you have too abide by now. Its nothing like years ago :)

Asbestos should be treated like radioactive material,I believe anyone going to work with this should spend a little time with someone like myself, who has witnessed the results of what asbestos can do to a fit and healthy family member.

I agree. My grandad was a ship builder in Northern Ireland and in Cumbria his whole life.
Asbestos crippled his lungs bad!
I'm glad it is now seen for how dangerous it is!

Oh its dangerous alrite! Belive me the things I have to do at work you wouldnt belive. Il gove you a basic I sight for those who dont know.

Il turn up at work, jump in the decontamination unit, this basically has 3 main small rooms you have the clean end were you first get it. The shower in middle. Then the dirty end.
So in the clean end as I havmt been exposed yet. Strip completely naked. Bare in mind you have to do this with other guys in there too.. so strip naked put a pair of overalls on Red work ones. Then your mask filters ect go on. Then comes the blue transit overalls, once there on we are ready too work! Ok so out of the decon unit and off too work we go but on any asbestos area you should have whata called a air lock broke up into 3 stages usually. So stage 1 of the airlock. Take your blue overalls off bag them and we can walk through the other 2 stages as they are for coming ouy mainly. Ok so say ive been working time to leave so... stage 3 of the airlock il come out take my red overalls off so completely naked.. wipe my mask down woth sponge and warter hoover my boots take them off ect.. now move towards stage 1 ans put my blue overalla on and move to the decon unit. Stage 3 the dirty end take my blue overalls off and bin them. Stage 2 the shower shower woth mask on make sure your clean before removing mask n filter when your done stage e the clean and jump through put your clothes on!!! Shift done... bare in mind u rarely do this by yourself in privacy!

I'm glad they take your health seriously.

I know some people say that health and safety has gone mad (I agree in some respects) but some materials (like asbestos) are too dangerous to take a risk with

I mean you get stupid people who dont care but I for one care and understand what im.working with and under any circumstances il take no risk.

Wiggy thats good to see the level of safety you have to go through, the flip side is just horrendous.

Oh yeah I understand how bad it really is when it isnt removed or co trolled with up most caution and care. Im only 21 so nobody my age has sufferd but my mums best frie ds dad suffered from the worst type of lung cancer through asbestos! Its truly shocking..

Belive it or not places like china are still building with the stuff knowing what it can do.

My garage roof is asbestos!
I wanted rid, but got told to leave it alone as it poses no risk until you disturb it!

That process is arguably more thorough that for most radioactive controlled areas, excluding the extremely high contamination likelihood areas.

Do they have any way of monitoring what amount of exposure/dose you get in a day?
