Doesn't show brake dust and muck. !

TBH i had a lime green colour coded st170 and they never even got that dirty from the light green calipers, i was shocked.

Gonna go same colour on the A3 when we get some nice weather. Red is sooo BORING lol plus with my car being dark green,
'red and green should never be seen'

;)

As AMD are always telling me,my car is usually far from white.

Black calipers match the overall look!

Hmmm thanks for all your comments guys looks like black is best and more day to day!
But if j.j gives like green ago would be good to see but I think I might go black as it will go with the rest of the overall look of the car!

What paint does everyone use as I think I used hammerite last time!!
Xheers

Mine are needing a tidy at the min and like the idea of graphite grey or similar

When you guys painted your calipers did you just use a jack or did u use axel stands etc. Also where is the jacking point on the a3s as this is the first time I've had to jack it since buying it before Xmas.

I would like to know this too as where I'm jacking it just dosn't feel right

Jacking points are bellow the two arrows on the sills on the side of the car.

Use axle stands to be safe.

Another vote for red.

Red/Orange would look great, smoking hot imo! - keep us updated, i would love to see a step by step on your progress!

Okey dokey guys cheers for all the help fingers x get a quiet couple of days and I'll do them in the next week or so cheers.

Im going to do Red the weekend on my Silver A3...
But what brand of paint to use? Lol think i might get the E-Tech kit :/

Im going for yellow. be alittle different.

Hammerite is good , just a lack of colours unless you want red or black. Halfords do calliper paint / high temp paint

Thought I'd give you guys a look at mine and another option if like me your confidence with cars is somewhat limited.

Mines in having a full detail and the callipers painted at the min at Home - Car & Yacht Detailing Specialists, based in Castleford Leeds.

Here's some of the progress so far (callipers have been done previously by the last owner but the sea air is obviously a killer), let me know your thoughts

Is it nessecary to remove the callipers from the disks, or is it possible to paint them with a brush while they are still mounted?

still mounted is fine, just get a thin ish brush for the edges, iv done it twice and its easy while still on, you just cant paint the back, but who cares , , , ,

Black is looks pretty smart on walts like the look of that. Also did u prime the hub in the middle as I see u brushed and cleaned it and then looks like u primed it but did u paint that black is well? Cheers

Thanks buddy,

I haven't touched the car it's all getting done by the detailer who's possibly making an appearance on here as he has an A3 SB along with another weekend toy.

The hub was brushed and cleaned and as far as I know painted in a silver high temp paint, although I'll have to confirm this. It's gonna be left that colour as it's more the look it would have from factory finish.

I think the difference in what he's done so far is awesome, really happy with the colours as I live near the coast and the sea air is a killer.

Yeh all the work he's done looks awesome I'm Deffo going with the black calipers and maybe do my hubs black or silverish colour like u say keep it as a standard look which is how I like to try and keep my cars. Cheers

Think the callipers would be silver to start but that wouldn't last 6 months near me. I like the black and it'll hide the rust when it starts to come back again, think they've also had a sealant applied to assist with the weathering.

Can't wait to pick her up :o.k:

Yeh I know what u mean there pal. I live near the sea is well and the old cars do take a beating with the sea air. I'm lucky to keep it in the garage at nights but still weathers on it tho so that's why I need to get the calipers and all sealed and painted.
Pop some more pictures up when you get her back pal.

Painted mine today...
Used E-Tech paint kit, came with brake cleaner spray, paint and brush.
Went shop and also got a wire brush, Black Hammerite and another brush for the hubs of the disks where rust typically shows.
I done this with the callipers still on the car.

Not the best examples but-

Couple old carpets to make the floor more comfortable and catch drips.

If i was to do this again i would of maybe used masking tape for some areas. I would definitely get a couple more brushes because it does get quite frayed getting into the tight areas... So by the last one it wasn't as neat as the first :(

So heres my lime green one, more pics to come tomorrow when coilovers and new lights are fitted.

Il probably start my own build thread :D

not sure why its cut the bottom bit of the photo off tho.
