Thought this might be interesting - the other night I was trying to remember (comes hard at my age) all the cars I have had over the years and when I got past the 20 point I gave up!

So I thought it would be interesting if members listed the last 10 cars they have owned and any comments starting from the current.

Here's my list ............................

1. Audi A3 2.0 TDI S-Line - current car, had it 24 days
2. Mercedes E240 Avantgarde - current car , veryyyyyy comfy
3. Mercedes 230SLK - current car, the wife's, say no more!
4. Mercedes 350SL - current car , the wifes , kept in the garage untill spring (roof off!)
5. Renault Laguna Estate - sensible car, loads of space in back
6. Porsche 944 S Turbo - not a sensible car, an animal to drive and I loved it
7. MGBGT - Chrome bumper model - I completed a full body / mechanical restoration - then sold it
8. Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 Twin spark - Great car to drive
9. BMW 3 Series 2.0 - Boring, but reliable
10. Lotus Cortina mk2 - Classic car and for it's time quick, shame about the cam cover oil leaks!!!

Holy cow that's a lot of cars!

1.3 Mk1 Astra Celebrity (first car owned)
1.6 Mondeo LX (first car bought)
2.0 Laguna RT Sport
and the cars below

Not a great selection!

First car: MG ZS 120 1.8L - I didn't look after this properly and it had some issues.
2nd: Honda Civic EJ9 1.4L - Stopgap car, still have it, not sure what to do with it. Mechanically sound and fun to drive round corners.
3rd: S4 Avant B5 - Reminds me how slow the Honda really is.

Cars from when I passed my test back in 1993-
1993-1995 wee red mk 2 fiesta 1.0-wee rust bucket but ideal first car.
1996-2000 blue mk 3 fiesta 1.1-year old when I got it,nice wee runaround,never set a foot wrong.
2000-2004 bronze saxo vtr, first wee warm hatch, excellent wee pocket rocket, kept standard.
2004-2008 silver Leon cupra 180,fantastic car, again never set a foot wrong.
2008-2012 performance blue mondeo ST TDCi-another great car.
2012-current A3 3.2v6-what can I say...
not very exciting list I know, and guess I've been lucky with my cars that nothing major has ever went wrong.

I'm guessing you do a lot of track days. Liked your wet track vidoes, particularly the rear wheel drive cars struggling. What was that blue car you were up the chuff on in the video Llandow 25 July 09?

My last 5 cars because before i went vag i had a black clio 1.4 sport and an mg zr atomix, both served their purpose but hardley worth a mention. So to kick off my vag addiction i bought my 1st audi - king fisher blue a3 1.8t,
Then i bought a merlin a3 1.8t that i bought salvage repair, then it was the leon cupra, the picture does no justice because it had the crappy standard rims when i took the pic, then my ming blue a3 1.8t and the last is the audi tt 225, over all the the a3s have been the best and most enjoyable to be in, drive and look at, the cupra was fast but cheap and the tt was as practical as a choclate toaster.

Heres a crappy low res picture for you all to enjoy.

I'm guessing you do a lot of track days. Liked your wet track vidoes, particularly the rear wheel drive cars struggling. What was that blue car you were up the chuff on in the video Llandow 25 July 09?

Thank you. Quattro was just awesome in the wet! I don't know what that blue car was some kind of rally kit car I think. Some of the worst lines I've seen at a trackday, I gave him a pax ride to help him out. Didn't help much he stuffed it by the end of the day when a rear wheel fell off...!

Current - 2006 A4 Avant S-Line 2.0 Tdi - Purchased about half a year ago now. It made sense to me in terms of economy, comfort and space. It earns its keep hauling me and my boarding gear (and mates) up the winter - so something with roof bars, space, and diesel made sense. Its just a shame its woeful in the snow!

Prior to that - 2005 Civic Type R Premier Edition - Owned this for about 2 years and it was one of the best 'drivers cars' i've owned. Did a couple of track days in it.

Prior to that - 2000 Peugeot 206 Gti - this was a bit of a stop gap car when I went through a period of trying to convince myself I could live with a £1000 run about.

Prior to that - 2008 Fiesta ST - the closest thing i've had to a 'new car' as it had less than 1000 miles on it whenI bought it. Loved the look of it, but just didnt pack enough of a punch..... with an extra 70bhp, that woulda been a great hot hatch.

Prior to that - 1996 Evo IV - probably my favourite car of all time. 352bhp and just an absolute hoot to drive. Cripppling running costs brought an end to that though.

Prior to that - 1998 E36 M3 Evolution Cabrio - awesome bit of kit, but looking back now, I really shoulda got the coupe.

Prior to that - 2000 Lotus Elise - I think I just had to give this a shot. Totally impractical, and if i'm honest I was pretty underwhelmed by it..... most probably cause I never really pused it hard through fear of the flaws of the K Series engine.

Prior to that - 2003 Renault Clio 172 Cup - always said i'd own another one of these since the day I let it go, and I stand by that. In terms of bang for your buck, i dont think these cars can be topped. At the time though, the depreciation on the thing was killing me and getting shot was an attempt to save more money loss.

Prior to that - 2000 Peugeot 406 3.0 V6 Coupe - great big cruiser with awesome induction roar...... but it handled like a boat, and let in more water than one.

Prior to that - 1996 Honda Civic SirII - 200+ bhp out of a B18C5 engine.... at the time, this was one of the fastest Civics around.

Theres probably about another 6 or 7 prior to that, and a couple of run abouts and track cars and such like i've missed out, but that my last 10 'proper' cars.

Good mix of cars on some of these lists - was expecting it to be a lot more German orientated to be honest.

My list is pretty shameful - one shining beacon (so far) in an otherwise steaming pile of manure... (passed my test in 1997)

1999 - 2000: 1992 J Reg Renault Clio 1.4RT, 3 door, 13" steels, the most basic of basic. Wrote it off when I suffered a tyre blowout doing 80mph on the M25 at midnight.

2000 - 2004: 1996 N Reg Renault Clio 1.4RT Champs Elysees, 5 door, 14" alloys, a slightly less basic, but equally dull car. Served me well through University and commuting to my first job though. Mechanically sound (apart from a water pump failure, everything else kept ticking over without much expense).

2004 - 2011: 2001 X Reg VW Lupo GTI. Gorgeous. Loved that little car (& still do) - miss it dreadfully & very nearly ended up buying it back a couple of months ago when I discovered it was on Autotrader! The most joy and the most pain i've experienced to date whilst motoring. Expensive when things went wrong (quite regularly), but totally worth it when things went well.

2011 - date: 2008 57 Reg Mazda 2 Sport. It's a stopgap and I never intended keeping it this long, it's just taking me ages to find *the* next car. It's alright for getting you from A to B. Perfectly reasonable. Just incredibly dull and not even vaguely engaging. I'm sure the next owner (probably housewife with young children) will enjoy it, but it's not for me.

Hopefully next car will be a little more exciting! ;)
