Washed my Q5 with Meguiars Ultimate Wash & Wax, followed by a coat of Meguiars Ceramic Liquid Wax.....I just love the sparkle of Daytona Grey

If yer paint is in good condition no matter what you use on top your going to get ease of cleaning and excellent hydrophobicity and that's all down to machine polishing but like you say Cancoat works for ya
It does, and doesn’t need to be applied every few washes. Horses for courses and all that, I don’t have the time to apply waxes/polishes etc on a regular basis, so coatings work for me.
Going to correct and redo the Cooper S bonnet this weekend, as I missed a few scuffs that’s I keep seeing.
Angel wax glass cleaner is fantastic even better finished of with angel wax h2go.

Yer only human mate..gonna give the doors on my car a right going over soon with Menzerna 3500,the most awkward panels to machine polish on any car but....give the best results if ye take yer time.....momentum has been at a low ebb....just like everything of late

Not necessarily detailing related but I sold the golf and picked up an S3! As much as I loved the golf the S3 has always been a dream car of mine and I finally got the opportunity to purchase one!
It needs a very good detail as the Sprint Blue (pearl) is not shining like it should but it still seems a lovely colour with lots of potential in terms of detailing.
Glad to be back in the Audi family.

I got a very nice offer for the golf from someone who lived around the corner from me. As much as I was sad to see it go after putting a lot of work into it, it’s nice to know it’s local to me and it allowed me to buy one of my attainable dream cars.

First clean, nothing fancy just a basic wash, used some of my strong valet pro snow foam, Sonax Shampoo, and a new mitt and towel. There’s a lot of tar spots on the car and will need a thorough decontamination.
There’s also a good amount of swirls but thankfully no deep scratches so it should polish up nicely. Unfortunately ran out of time yesterday so all I can show is some clean shots of the car. I did give the exhausts a quick going over to with wire wool and some autosol as they were really bad.
Getting the car booked in for a wheel refurb as they are appealing.

You done a top job on the outside of those tips, use the wool with your autosol on the inside also. Should come up a bit better.

Did a spot of decontamination around the car today, still needs claying but again it was cut short as it has gone to the mechanic for two new tyres. Went for Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s as the Pirelli P Zero GT’s on the car just wear too quickly.
A clay bar and decontamination with a coat of crystal ceramic wax she will be gleaming.

G3 clay mitt, megs uc using da, srp by hand, followed by simoniz original tin wax.
Gloss not the greatest, usually use turtlewax hybrid sealant, but read that the original wax is long lasting so will use the tw sealant to top up the protection next wash m
Did a tip run today so the rear got a bit dirty so gave the inside a once over & a quick wash used C2v3 as a drying aid & tried Carpro PERL on the tyres.

You know a car is very well looked after, just by a clean spray solution and cloths left in the boot netted elcove. Can't think for a better use of that space. Ideal for those emergency tree sap or bird poo moments. You always got something at hand to try and tackle it quickly before it sets.
Don't know how many times l have just cleaned the car, only to be attacked by the flock poopers.
Started a wee bit of paint correction today, did the front n/s wing and bonnet, does need further refining though.

Gave the car a wash and topped the kamikaze ism coat with some kamikaze overcoat looking glossy again .

Went on Holibobs. Not to Spain, so no quarantine thankfully. There's a lot to be said for a cracking good UK based holiday. Easy to forget we live in a ruddy nice country with many areas of outstanding natural beauty. I even went to the pub. For the first time since early March. Real Ale never tasted better.
Every decent road trip begins with a properly detailed motor. Clean cars drive better. So here's the sensible family wagon, freshly buffed, the day before we set off (I've posted a similar pic before, about 2 years ago - good to see the car's still looking as good as it was then)

I've said it before on this forum (more than once, lol) - the S3, 8V Sportback, with roof-rails, is just about the best one motor for all occasions I can think of. With the roof-box on I have more load lugging capacity than an A6 Avant, for the 2 or 3 weeks a year I need it. The rest of the time I get to not drive a dull barge.
My opinion on the S3: Anyone hoping that it is going to be a sharp, nimble, track focused lap-time slayer doesn't get the proposition. What the S3 is, is a fast, comfortable GT - capable of doing everything very well, rather than one thing excellently. And that's exactly what I want it to be. Haul big miles, quickly and comfortably and enjoy the understated way in which you are doing so. That's what the S3 is for.
We headed over to the Royal Coast of North Norfolk (pretty near Sandringham - kept an eye out for Philip pulling out of a junction randomly, lol). None of the Bournemouth over-crowding nonsense in this neck of the woods - just VAST open landscapes, and hardly another fecker around. Brilliant. It was the first time our newest member of the family (Rocco, our nutcase Boston Terrier, 10 months old), got to see the seaside. Pig. In. ****.

Got back yesterday, and then had to deal with the state the car was in. Footwells, and seats, and boot, and roof-box full of sand. And the paint was as dirty as it has ever been. The front of the car was a bug holocaust. Spent 5 hours getting my trusty steed back to showroom condition today.
Top tip: Never scrub bugs. You'll mar the paint. Let a decent citrus based bug remover do the work for you. Blast the worst of the crud off with your pressure washer, then bug spray remover, (I used Gyeon Q2M Bug and Grime), let it sit for a few minutes (never in direct sunlight, always in shade), then blast with your pressure washer again. After that your ready to wash the car.
Gave the interior a good detail (including a much needed leather feed, with Colourlock Leather Conditioner), and finished off the paint (already well protected with various layers of stuff), with a coat of G-Techniq C2V3, diluted 1/1 with water. End result. Very shiny, and back in the garage.

Started paint correction on the rear 3/4, I’m going to need a slightly higher cut than what I’m currently using as I removed the majority of swirls in two stages however some marks still remain. I’m quite happy with what I’ve achieved so far.
Got a picture of some of the uncorrected paint on the door vs the corrected paint on the rear 3/4.

This machine has been excellent for the price over the past two years.
Edit: Looks like they don't have it any more, you can't go wrong with a DAS 6 Pro Plus, I think they're pretty good for around £200
