@X3man - Very nice Nev. Job well done buddy ! I could use them while you did mine if you want ... lol
Thank you! The CLA is my step-father’s. In isolation the CLA is a great car, it has a few cool toys eg the augmented reality satnav and the “Hey Mercedes” assistant. The interior looks great but the gloss black trim on the centre console is possibly the cheapest feeling plastic I’ve ever felt. It’s let down on the price and the overall comfort/driving feel. But driving the S5 every day may be skewing my viewpoint.
Well I tried Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wax at the weekend and initial impressions are really good! I followed Jon from Forensic Detailing’s advice when applying the first layer, drying the car to the point where there was only a light layer of water and then used a damp microfibre applicator to spread the applied spray. Then buff off after it’s had a little while to stiffen. It took a bit of buffing to get it completely clear but looked amazing. I also seemed to use very little of the product by spreading it around One thing I’ve noticed is the ‘slickness’ of the paint is great compared to the usual carnauba waxes I use, beading that would usually stay put until 60mph now rolls off the bonnet/roof and I have a completely clear car by the time I leave the village.
Rain forecast but protection in order. I’m having fun with my DA and did a decent job before the storm hits. I am working with griots correction and finishing sealant and then polywax. Orange then black pads followed by red wax pad Top is reflection Bottom is actual sorry about dirty iphone lens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A bloke on BM forum used AngelWax Enigma (hybrid ceramic wax) with great results. Does make me think about maybe not replacing the ceramic on the Mini JCW in the spring and try polish/wax
@X3man - Love that ^ toronto red metallic colour Nev ! Reminds me of a X4M Comp over on DW Would have had that colour on my X3 if it had been an option You just don't see many 'proper' red cars anymore Thought it wa a shame when Audi moved their misano red over from option metallic to their exclusive paint range Everything seems to be 50 shades of grey IMHO PS Plennty of ceramic waxes around without having to spend an arm & a leg TBH
@X3man - WTF Nev ! That wax ^ is £180 for a 250ml pot ! https://angelwax.co.uk/product/enigma-ceramic-wax/ I'm waiting for he who shall remain nameless to pipe up with 'you get what your pay' for nonsense I've said it before & I'll say it again - this rule ^ doesn't always apply to car detailing Just saying ...
Jeez! I had NO IDEA it was that expensive, but suppose if it is 12 months (taken with punch of salt) longevity then kind of fair enough’ish, and 30 applications. 33ml is £45 In2detailings ceramic wax is pretty good from what I have heard, and only £12. https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/in2detailing-ceramic-crystal-wax-200g.html James raves about Fireball Fusion: https://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/fireball/fusion-wax.aspx
I really love a red car these days with a black contrasting finish Misano red is truly stunning......really loved our S1 Misano Red
@X3man - Funny you should mention that ^ Nev I have a pot of the 'Black Edition' version of that wax in my garage fridge that I haven't used yet Bargain at £12 if you ask me The 'next' new product to appear in the Detailing community is Graphene infused wax https://www.in2detailing.co.uk/prod...xes/artdeshine-graphene-crystal-wax-50ml.html Review - https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=411797&highlight=graphene
The X4 is a very ungainly looking thing mate.... even the M version,l much preferred the previous one
Any wax on a Red car looks the dogs mate,as you know l have the Fireball Fusion wax its actually more expensive than the Enigma...its not worth it as durability is not the best,Fireball Nano coat is far better in every way,so when mines runs out i'll be on the look out for something similar..Fireball coating wax is one of the best products l have ever used...gloss and especially beading are off the scale and perfect beading lasts about 3 weeks. or even more if applied on top of Nano Coat and Red doesnt suit that car....much prefer it in Silver Grey or Black
This is the first time in my life I’ve ever done this! Cheers to those of you who have encouraged and helped me to get to this point. It was certainly fun!
Finally managed to all the crud washed off the car. Used the turtle wax spray on and rinse off wax. To be honest quite impressive, used all sorts over the years, very easy to apply and seems to give a decent finish. Rainx the windows as well. No pics as waiting for centre caps and black nut covers to arrive. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
Gave the car & van a much needed wash snow foamed & citrus pre washed then washed with Gwash & used bead maker as a drying aid & megs on tyres. Not that you can see as was dark when I finished lol.
Not today but late last week I did a proper leather treatment, cleaned twice over and lots of protection cream. Really easy stuff to use and amazing results, photos don’t do it justice how matt the seats and slsterring wheel are now, amazed doesn’t even come close Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
By the way, none of you buggers mentioned the mess left behind after snow foaming!!! I need to start earlier in the day, or get into this citrus pre-wash lark instead!!!
As did I, and it was still in the gutter yesterday morning, plus it was super frosty here yesterday, so it looked like it had actually snowed!
@Moon - Thats the prob with SF'ing the lingering SF lol One of the reasons I moved over to the citrus pre-wash Main thing is your having a laugh while you learn - good on yeh
Gave the wife's Captur a full top to bottom & inside out today Bolllockings were issued after I finished lol Darcy gets everywhere when I doing the cars lol
It’s my first time. I just bought the Autobrite kit with their snow foam included. I’ll most likely get a citrus pre-wash once I’ve finished the snow foam.
Yeah I did really enjoy it. What’s your recommendation for a citrus pre-wash that’s decent quality and also budget-friendly?
It'll be valet pro citrus prewash from @Bristle Hound his detailing apples dont fall far from the detailing tree A citrus prewash ain't as effective in a snowfoam lance best mix some along with snow foam in the bottle get the best of both worlds
@Moon - ValetPro Citrus Pre Wash for the win IMHO I'm not the only one who love's this product too https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/valetpro-citrus-pre-wash.242204/
