So it's nearly here. The new 17 registration and I'm sure a lot of members will be collecting their brand new A3s.
Personally I'm not collecting my new A3 2.0 Sport TDI-184 s-tronic quattro Sportback in Floret Silver until 2nd March (dealers will be very busy on 1st - a little less so on 2nd) and my particular dealer has a brand new 13-car showroom which only opened today.

So what model are you collecting?

Nothing, as they couldn't be bothered sorting a test drive out for me in Nov/Dec when I asked! Even though I said I'd want it for March delivery.

My new car, as in my signature :)

Strangely when I picked up my current car on September 1st, I was pretty much the only one in the dealership... it was a weekend too! I'm booked it to collect at 9:30 on Wednesday. Just emptied my car of all my stuff (well, almost all...).

I emptied my A3 yesterday and took it to the dealer this afternoon. They are going to change my throttle pedal packing over to the new one and also transfer the wiring behind the dash for my Tomtom.
The dealer says they have lots of cars being collected on the 1st.

Day out tomorrow in the Civic to say goodbye first. Then 2pm Wednesday:

A3 Sportback
S-Line
1.4 TFSI
S-Tronic
Daytona Grey
Comfort and Sound Pack
Advanced Tech Pack
Privacy Glass

Oh, and for the missus, park assist

Picking up a Saloon 1.4 TFSI on 4th March as couldn't get in till the weekend.

Tango Red
Comfort and Sound Pack

Didn't see much point in the tech pack. Would have loved front sensors and virtual cockpit but its a work car on a contract lease so would have ended up paying for them over the 3 years anyways.

An A4 190 S Line Ultra saloon in Daytona, with privacy, high beam, fbmfsw and B&O.

The 3rd will be a great day for the both of you. The S3 spec sounds great, and I'm sure the Q2 will be nice as well.

Finally picked up the S3 after what felt like forever. Delighted with the car, just need to get over this running in period which given my low miles will take ages. I think there will be many trips being arranged in the coming weeks to get the mileage up.

Off over to the A4 board.

Step up in quality from the 8V A3 is noticeable. But the 190 isn't as lively as the 8V 184.

e new engines don't usually need a run in period really as old engines did I'd just avoid launching etc until you have a few miles on the gearbox.
Please correct if I'm wrong

Well I was meant to be picking up my sportback S3 on the 1st but it still hasn't arrived at the dealer! Getting a joke now! It was loaded on to a transporter yesterday and is travelling from Grimsby to Huddersfield anyone would think they were shipping it from aus via dingy

I've heard both sides to be fair. However, I've been told by a few mechanics in the past that it's not just the engine that needs run in. The gear box, clutch, brakes and tyres need to be run in as well. The advice I was given today from Audi was to run the car in over the first 1000miles. I know in my GTI it was detailed in the owners manual, not checked the Audi one yet though.

I'm sure it will be easy to put a 1000 miles on it when I get a new car I put silly miles on in the first few weeks

I just rag it from day one and I've never had any issues in over 100,000 miles of driving.

Some lovely motors on peoples drives and garages tonight. Roll on the weekend for some real "17" adoration!!

I've hopefully got less than two weeks before mine joins you !!
