Hi all,

Ive ordered a FL S3 but did not spec the Matrix Lights..

All i have seen on the road of the S3 FL is the Chasing Indicators.. are these standard on the FL s3?

If not what are the Standard lights / Indicators like?

Thanks :)

You'll have the chaser (dynamic) indicators at the back yeah, just not at the front of you haven't specc'd Matrix LED's.

Haha thanks, I've had a Deep Blue Pearl R32 for near on 9 years and was going to go with Sepang but they dropped it, Navarra was too dark for my liking so went with Ara.

Standard lights are still LED, but as @Tom.H said, no dynamic indicators on the front unless you spec Matrix. I wasn't sure if I'd made a mistake by not having them, but the standard LED's are sooo bright! It's like daylight!

So are the indicators, especially the front. If I'm at a junction at night and there's a car or two in front indicating, it's mine you can see reflecting off the signs even although they're closer.

Yeah, had a look at them last night and had retina burn for half an hour... lol

We have dynamic rear indicators as standard? I know they "do the dynamic" at the rear when I unlock the car but I always though they were normal when indicating.

Nope. Dynamic / sweeping all the time. Indicating, hazard lights etc.

Edit: I'm in the UK, not sure where you are? Could they be different elsewhere in the world?

Mk4 or mk5? I've just split my project mk4 down to fund the deposit on my s3.

MK5, as much as I liked the shape of the MK4 I wanted something newer, I've had it since it was 18months old. Shall miss it, mainly the sound but it's getting on a bit now and things are bound to start failing which being an R32 means £££'s! Must have done a fair bit to yours then!

Yeah....I turbo'd it. Was a nice car and a nice project but I'm tired of all the work it wanted! Don't have the time for it anymore with work and a child

How do you mean mate?

While flashing or high beeming to others is the power of the High Beems the same between the LED & Matrix or that the Mtrix is more powerful.

I know the actual function of the Matrix and what it does but but I mean that when I High Beem to people to move from the fast lain so I'm not meaning the actual function only high beeming

I wouldn't know tbh, obviously when I flash people they're brighter as with any headlight but I don't know how they compare to non Matrix, at a guess I'd say they both flash at the same brightness.

Did you not ask this somewhere else and get an answer? I seriously cannot believe you are looking at spending £900 more in the hope that you will have a brighter main beam to be more of an anti-social .... on the motorway. Hence the ASBO headlight comment I've seen previously. If having the brightest headlights to inform others you are coming and they should therefore remove themselves from your highway is that important, why not fit some carlos fandango spotlights to the front bumper and a light bar on the roof? That way no one would be able to miss you or be able to claim they didn't see you flashing...! :wtf:

I'm really sorry for asking the question again. The problem where I live most of the people don't follow laws as they have meant to be followed. People in our country really don't move if didn't use you High Beams flash or tail gate them in rare cases, I'm 100% accept flashing and tailgating is ASBO & rude and good at all, but it's a must here where I live and as my self and people who drive like me never be rude while beaming in such away that your thinking of, Just beaming one or twice is enough to let them know to move. About the Matrix it looks better and much beautiful.

Sorry again for any rudeness and bad behavior that you though or understood.

Ah okay, now it makes sense. So my apologies for jumping on you. It's a shame you didn't put that in your original question as it might have stopped us from making assumptions. Unfortunately here in the UK it's all too familiar to find inconsiderate drivers, so it wouldn't have surprised me in any way. :)

United Arab Emirates.
The problem is caused because in the UAE their are multinational people that live in the country so everyone has a different style of driving and common sense thats why it happens a lot. Like in US or UK if you come behind a person they move before you even come close but here it's the opposite not all but quite some people do it.

It's really interesting to hear how totally different things like that are considered to be acceptable! Fair play to you :)

I don't have the matrix LED headlamps but I do have the standard FL LEDs with additional auto dip/high beam. They are incredible compared to my previous car (which had halogen headlamps). The road ahead is illuminated in a very clean white light which I find very pleasing on country lanes. The auto dip/high beam is effective and fast (far quicker than I could achieve manually) and I don't have to take my hands off the steering wheel. On the other hand, my expectations may be quite low......my first car had a dip switch on the floor and headlamps about as effective as a candle (I still have that car). Mind you, it also lacked synchromesh on first gear and many other things besides. Still I drove it the 500 miles to University and now it had been round the clock after 999,999 miles. I wonder how many Audi S3s will do that.

What is the other car if you don't mind me asking fella?
I remember an uncle, when I was at primary school back in nineteen canteen, had a car with the windscreen washers operated by a foot switch / button. Think it was a MkIII Cortina but others may correct me as my memory has faded since then.

The other car is a convertible Morris Minor that I've had for 25 years. Compared to my S3 it's an absolute death trap! It does help me appreciate the enormous advances in motoring technology and it gives me something to tinker with.

I was out on the country roads again last night and remain impressed with the FL LED lights. They really do assist safe night driving.

In our country honking on people is more abusive than flashing on them to move or in any kind of situation to that they pay attention.

My first car was a 1955 Morris Minor and that had an unusual feature - vacuum operated windscreen washers. The old Ford Anglia had vacuum operated windscreen wipers - awful as when you went up a hill they almost stopped but when you went down the other side they almost came off their spindles, they were wiping so fast! But the Minor had a chrome button on the dash which when you just touched it, the washers went through what seemed like a 15 second operation of spraying the windscreen. You couldn't have a quick squirt! So friends of mine would delight in touching the button and emptying the washer container as well as ruining my newly cleaned car! Oh how things have changed.
