Hi Guys,

Pick up my A3 TDi on Wednesday but I'm confused as to what it is.

Is it an 8L or 8P chassis?

Its a 2004 plate and from looking at all your pics I'm guessing its an 8P.

Also, its a 1.9TDi (105bhp), can anyone confrim if its a 16 or 8 valve?

Many thanks,

Cheers for that mate!

Nice one. :icon_thumright:

you sure its 16v andy?

i thought all the 1.9 PD engines were 8v, with the newer 2.0 engines all being 16v? they did still make some 8P's with pd 130 and 105 motors for sure didnt they?

My local garage claim the 1.9tdi on an 04 is 16 valve. Any one else able to confirm or how could I check?

Thanks,

Correct. Only the 2.0 TDI is 16v. Not sure about the 130 ever going in an 8P, but the 105 is a 1.9PD, 8V.

Still confused. How could Parkers get it wrong?

Is there a way to check on the log book or anything?

Not sure how these valves work anyway, does it alter accelleration etc if it has less valves?

its 8v, same engine as an 8L. Phone/email audi if u want clarification. Its just an older engine really 8v's tend to feel a little more torquey lower down but have less of a power range (in petrol, assuming diesels are the same)
