Weird humming noise at 3100 rpm

Hi chaps,

After a bit of advice really, I have noticed some time ago that my A3 2.0FSI is making a humming noise ahen the revs are between 3100 & 3200 rpm. It happens in every gear and only at this range, if My rpm is below or above that level there's no noise.

Does anyone have any suggestions or similar problem? I don't have access to VCDS so can't scan it and can't really afford to put it in a garage so any help would be appreciated.

axle? cv joint? wheel bearing? differential? - where do you think the sound is coming from? have you been able to isolate it to any particular part of the car.

It's coming from the front, almost directly in front of the driver.
