Water in spare tyre well

Any one had this before? Water in spare tyre well but can’t see/feel anywhere else in boot area that is damp or wet. The carpeted cover is dry as are the sides. Just can’t see where or how it’s getting in.

I’ve dried it out and will be using a hose to try and see where it’s coming in but grateful if any ideas to give me a pointer. Thanks.

Mine is a 2008 Le Mans Quattro. Doesn’t seem to have had any damage to the rear.

I’m assuming the only place it can come in without getting the wheel cover/carpet/ sides of the boot wet is behind the rear light clusters? Or maybe underneath?!

Looks like it’s getting underneath the rear light cluster trim. Water is running behind the trim/light and coming out in small round holes that are just below the boot lid catch and running into the wheel well.

The cluster trim looks quite a hard plastic when you would expect the part that seals against the bodywork to be rubber and sealed on.
