Water in boot

OK so I was out shopping this morning and came back to the car with a load of stuff and it was pouring down with rain, I opened the boot and wallop a load of water ran off the boot lid, down the rear window and into the boot! Luckily I have the Audi coupe boot liner fitted so not a big problem, but it did go all over an item I had in a box and inside a bag that was already in the boot!

So has anyone found a way around stooping the water from flooding inside when opening the boot???

Think its a real problem with the coup, when you look at gutter around the boot opening don`t think its wide enough for the deluge of water it gets when opening.
I have stopped using the button on key instead opening it very slowly so water runs off at a gentler pace, saying that i had Autoglym ceramic coating done a few weeks back and today poring with rain wife opened boot with key and nothing as water is not beading anymore so fingers crossed its fixed.

Yeah I will have to try opening it manually and control the flow as you say! Also when we get the weather I'll have to wax that area more than the rest of the car :p since owning the car it's only had a wash with a built in wax and the Hydro2 lite put on it, no 'proper' hand waxing.

TBH the Hydro2 lite works well, considering it's a spray on and jet wash off product:

That`s some hardcore beading
Can't wait for a nice day to apply the G3 wax and then the Hydro2 lite on top of that!!!

This is G3 on the S3 I had:

The Rear Tailgate top boot seal is so bad it hurts me to look at it every day, especially when it's been raining...only way to ease it is to manually open the boot a slow the movement down allowing the water to run its course down the seal rather than over flowing into the boot itself. How this wasn't found to be an issue during monsoon testing and seal key life testing I'm unsure. Maybe someone couldn't justify the cost of changing the seal profile at that stage. (it happens)

Also, the beading almost outweighs the pain of it pouring into the boot :D
