Hi, i have bought a used A3 8V 2017 1.5 dsg from an AUDI WORKER at... Ingolstadt
the car has as an option +3 Year warranty (or 100.000km) extention

is it possible to Service the Car outside from AUDI SERVICE without loosing the benefits of the warranty?
(USING the Suggested parts and oil from service book)

    Yes.

My car is 3 years old in a couple of months, I phoned Audi warranty up yesterday and asked "If I extend the warranty for another 12 months can I still use an Audi specialist to do the servicing?", her reply was "As long as they use genuine Audi parts and do what is needed at the correct time it doesn't affect your Audi extended warranty" :icon thumright:

In the UK we only get a 3 year warranty as standard. When buying the extended warranty buy it in the last month of the normal warranty to get it at a good price, if you let it slip out of warranty and then buy it, it goes up by about 50%.

What @S32B stated is correct but I would also call your local dealer. I’m in Switzerland and if I did servicing not at Audi then I would invalidate my warranty even if I used Audi parts. This is because Swiss cars come with 10yrs of servicing & warranty. I know you state you have a warranty for 3yrs or 100,000kms but I would check just to see if there is a certain clause in there relating just to Germany as these things change from country to country.

Also you state +3yrs, do you mean standard 3yrs warranty from 2017? That might be running out soon.

Mostly yes, it’s called the Swiss package. But we pay way more for the cars here so really it’s better and cheaper in the U.K, especially the PCP deals. Having said that the standard of second hand cars here is insane, pristine models at 10yrs old is normal, but a standard new A3 would be 30k and an S3 probs around 50/60k before options so you come to expect servicing being included at those prices.

insurance is crazy expensive & weirdly set up here too. I pay 1800 a year for my Q2, which includes a premium of 500 a year for cover when it’s parked!! Crazy! I miss paying £350 a year on my A3!!

It would be interesting to see their warranty claims over those 10 years across all makes. Our factory used to use Bosch wiper motors, which you'd say yeah I can see them lasting a long time, they then changed them (to save money) to a make called 'Dongyang', would you same the same about those lasting??? :D

To raise an old chestnut, with a 10 year warranty, I wonder what the recommended cam belt change interval is in Switzerland?

Since Bosch no doubt outsource the manufacture of their wiper motors to A.N.Other factory somewhere in the far east, why ever not? Most of the electronics components on modern cars come from China.

You can also see and feel the difference! look and feel very cheap and flimsy compared to the old ones.

God knows. I’ll check and report back. But I know that it won’t be like the UK which quite frankly is a rip of and industry wide scandal.

Funny you mention wiper motors, my Q2 wipers are pretty loud when stationary, way more so than the A3 I had. Might get them checked at service time. Defo not the blades as these are changed when serviced

Yes, as long as nothing major goes wrong, for example a rogue bolt finds its way through the oil filler cap and trashes the exhaust cam with a repair bill of over 6 grand. Then you'll find the excuses come out i.e. "the other garage" will be blamed despite them going nowhere near the oil filler cap (clutch change) even though the car had always been serviced at Audi for everything else.

Your call, but if you genuinely care about a full warranty then only ever get it serviced at an Audi garage.

I noticed this about my Dad's Q2, they're a lot louder than the ones on my S3 so I guess its normal...or a common fault
