Can anyone advise I've recently noticed this on my 2015 a3 diesel sport back 2ltr.
Cars driving OK. Looked under bonnet looks like some residue from coolant bottle has overflowed leaving marks under bonnet hood.
Curious to find out. Thanks in advance.

Orange Engine management light does mean a problem, but not as serious as a red EML but still needs checking asap. You'll need an OBDII Bluetooth plugin and a mobile app like Torque to do a code scan and see what the error code(s) are or something like a VagCOM/VCDS. Or take it to a garage - ideally a German car specialist - for a diagnostic.

I would check heating system is working normally, all coolant hoses in the bay are getting hot as if its overflowed then could be overhearing, too much pressure & the caps possibly blown for safety.

Maybe a broken pipe, ideally you need pressure test done on the car for leaks 1st, also cap may have a leak, although this is highly rare tbh.

Got my mechanic looking at it Monday. The light is yellow on the dash. But looks orange in the photo does that mean it's something different.?
Cheers

Nah same thing, yellow/orange EML are warnings and red is critical.
Report back once your mechanic has had a look and let us know

If your up for the challenge then try identifying it yourself. There are some simple things you can check. Have you been keeping an eye on your temperature?

First thing I would do is run my car up and keep an eye on the temperature, if you had a second person that would be ideal. Keep an eye on the coolant bottle to see if there are any leaks or the cap is hissing. Also watch the fluid level in it. It could be as simple as a faulty cap that can't hold the pressure.

But could also be something else that has caused the cap to blow.

If everything seems normal then get it up to temperature and check your radiator fan comes on, your car may get up to temperature quite fast but the fan may not kick in for a while after that, as long as the temperature doesn't go above the normal line then wait until it kicks in.

That's what I would do first, just the basics, then do some basic tests to see if your thermostat and water pump are working.

I hope this helps, and good luck.

Thanks for that. Mechanics checked no leaks etc. Car temp goes up to half way as normal.
Warning light was faulty glow plugs which are being done tomorrow.

Thanks.
