Seems Aluminium inlays are rather expensive and like rocking horse s&!t to get hold of I thought I'd have a go at wrapping my original ones.

The door inlays are proper Ally ones which I did manage to get from e-bay for a bargain price but I was too impatient to wait for the rest to come along so I wrapped the bit above the glovebox, ashtray, gear surround and the bit around the light switch.

Let me know what you guy's think ?

Many thanks to my friend (as I know you'll read this for providing the vynyl at a very good price :beerchug:) I owe you one.

Looks great from the pics.

Still keen on getting the wheel changed on mine...

pjm,

hows the colour match to the originals on the doors, is it not worth wrapping your old door trims aswell so there all spot on with each other untill you get the rest of the gen ones, or is it close enough ?
.
looks good though buddy, a nice cheap mod with great results, nice one.

To be honest it's actually good enough. Although I also couldn't be bothered cause my fingers are sore from pulling it it all directions to make sure I didn't get any air bubbles

Hi pjmspeedy....

THAT is really impressive......I have the piano black surrounds all round....but the ashtray & gearbox surround, etc are in some sh*te matt black material that looks scratched when previous owner cleaned it...
Think I may consider getting just the ashtray & gearbox surround sorted like you have done or were they pukka Audi bits you had there ?

Did you bid on these btw ...I was not going above £55 + post for them....do you know how much they are new ?

They look great, good work. It's going to be rude not to add RS4 pedals though, to complete the colour combination.

Im expecting mark along anytime lol

did someone mention my name :sly: lol

very nice paul, theres a vinyl graphics place not far from me that does the brushed ally style vinyl apparently so i'm going to pop down and have a nosey at it during the week :) did you take the trims off to wrap them or leave them in place?

john, you missed a bargain there buddy, those mirror caps have been going for anywhere between 120 and 180!!! they are £167 EACH from the dealers!!!!

:applaus: at this rate mark, it will be billy bankrupt lol
spent a bit on her in the last two weeks.

Thanks fore the comments guys :icon_thumright:

Mark - I took all the trims off as there's no way of doing it otherwise. There not to bad to take off when you know what bits you need to undo and where all the bolts are but you do have to dismantle half the ****** car!

Let us know when your going to do it and I'll point you in the right direction.

Cheers Paul :icon_thumright: did you use a hairdryer at any point, helps when going over edges?

i'll order that s4 lower grill from you when i get my hard drive back from holland (don't ask!) later this week :)

The misses hairdryer worked a treat. When the vynyl is warmed up it's alot more easier to work with.

Your hard drive is in holland ! Some story this is going to be !

And here's me thinking that you were going to say that it was caused by looking at some dodgy sites! :salute:

you both have to much time on your hands, arent you both at work?

If your on it must mean you've had an easy day and your back home :lazy:!

If that's the case......you'll have too much time on your hands this afternoon and that your hard drive might be off to Holland (to be de-porned) It will make you go blind you know!

paul, you need a perforated gearknob to match the wheel now and a set of pedals

stop being so tight and just get em !!!! :undwech:

Lea keeps going on about a punched knob but I thought it was a condition he had! :lmfao:

I had it serviced last week at Stafford Audi so funds are a little tight right now cause I'm also off to Germany on Friday for 4 days and then off to Barcelona in two weeks for 4 days then off to Vienna for 4 days in October.

Once all that's out of the way I'll be getting some new tyres for my RS6 rims that have been waiting patiently in the garage, and then a RS4 RARB, then get an RNS-E and then get the RS4 pedals.

hey, nice mod list there buddy :)

i was only pulling your leg mate, i was on the phone to lea at the time :w00t:

that looks tidy, do you have any close up pics? Also where did you buy the vinyl?

I do have a close up one of the ashtray that I'll post up tomorrow as i'm away from home this evening. I actuallt got it from a friend in the end but you should be able to get it from any good wrapping company. In fact PM "The Slug" as he does it for a living and kindly sent me some samples when I was first looking into colour matching.

I know a chap who can get you a good price on these. Oh, hang on, no, errrr....... ;)

Trims look good btw

Nice James :lmfao:

As you know I kind of like my holidays so have to hold back on spending on the car all the time.....plus I forgot that I need to replace the discs and pads all around within 2 months tops. Another set back for the mods.

Indeed! I resisted commenting about that lol!

Mind you saying that James the misses has her sights on this house not to far from us so if we get it.....it will mean no holidays for a year as it needs a few £££££ spending on it to get it how we want.

Good job mate, new on here so still finding my way around.
Can anyone tell me where I can get the vinyl and for how much?. Any guidance of how to remove parts etc from car will be of great help. Also is spraying these a viable alternative. thanks

Exactly what I want to do with my black B6S4 Cab.... how do you get the trim off the dash and doors?

Hey...your steering wheel is on wrong side?

the door card:
pull off from the front ( nearest the mirror ) and then work your way back, once at the rear of the door it is held in by a foot like keep, it then needs to be slide back then brought away from the card.

the glovebox :
remove the end cover between the dashboard and the door ( fuse cover ) look for a deep hole with an 8mm bolt head, this needs removing, once removed, pull trim out from left to right.

now the fiddly, the light switch surround:
remove the fuse cover, remove 8mm bolt to allow removel of the lower dash ( understeering column) once this is out the way 2 ( i think ) more 8mm bolts hold in the switch housing from underneath, it not over yet as the switch itself has to be popped out the housing ( if i remember right you push the switch in whilst turning to the lights on position then pull ) once the switch is out there is another 8mm bolt inside at the rear holding the switch housing in.

rear side panels:
pretty much as the doors, pop out from the front first, work to the back, then they have to be slid forward and pulled out.

all will become alot clearer once your doing it.

DONT MISS THE 8mm BOLTS, the glovebox one depends on the bolt to hold it in place as there are no clips that side, therefore it will not sit in place if you break it off.

it has been a while since i changed mine so this is as accurate as i can remember

ps: his steering wheel is on the wrong car LOL :lmfao:
