Repaired under warranty, but all they did was remove the bottom pan and replace the solenoid itself..

Thanks for the info.

Let's see what it ends up costing.

I suggest you obtain a fault code reader as that might give you more of an insight..

Will definitely get the code read first.

I had this pop up twice yesterday. Booked in at the local Audi specialist on Tuesday morning. They said they'll do the usual diagnostic and let me know. They have come across is twice before though. Once it was the park solenoid as previously mentioned and the other believe it or not it was the door lock! Something about the car thinking the door was still open when moving off.....

Luckily its covered under the warranty I got with the car. :yahoo:

Mine will not be covered by warranty. I'll be getting it looked at this weekend. Not come on every journey.

Must be a sensor. Working intermittently.

The problem seems to have gone away by it self.

Nothing has come up in the dash for a few hundred miles.

I will get the code read at some point.

Thanks.

Owais.

The fault on the car I had was very sporadic. It didn't do it for days then it would ping up twice in one day.......I ended up taking the car back anyway. Got a refund and bought a hopefully more reliable one.....

Thanks aim to get the code read. Find out what is causing it.

Was there any outcome to this guys?

I’ve had this come up several times now, drives fine...?

I ended up taking the car back to the dealership and getting my money back....so no I never did find out what the issue was. I did contact a local specialist and they said it could be a door sensor....yes you read that correctly. The car thinks the door is open and pings up the fault. Or the other suggestion was a sensor in the shifter.

Sorry I can't help anymore than that.

Thanks for confirming anyway... no funny enough I’ve read twice it could be the door lock/sensor or the shift solenoid...

It’s strange as the past 3 weeks when I’ve turned the car on... the message has comes up, goes away leaves the ‘triangle!’

But then clears and disappears like nothings happened - when both doors auto locking around 10/15mph I think...

Although it has happened on the odd occasion too while I’m mid drive...

I was just in a panic as I’ve read it could be the gearbox... fingers crossed it’s just a door sensor, will let you guys know when I get it looked at...

Did you get it looked at mate? I replaced my cluster to virtual cockpit and now it stays on with error message with triangle. But if i code the instrument to say its a manual it goes away. I am thinking it has to be gearbox sensor maybe?

I haven’t yet buddy... it’s hasn’t popped up since Saturday however, I initially noticed it when the message came up after a couple of hard drives... say going for a hard drive and then heading back - boom up it flicked up...

That had me worrying regarding the gearbox... but ever since it’s only come up on start ups and then goes off once the doors auto lock around 15mhp I think or comes up with the message and then the triangle goes off after about 60seconds.

Did the message come on after fitting your virtual dash? Or has it been fitted and only recently coming up with error?

Its annoying when it pops up. Keeps think door is open. And came on after fitting dashboard. It maybe the sensor what everyone got is not connect with dashboard. But what part did they change so i can see prices.

It could be the same issue I and a few others have had with the dsg box in the mkr R which shares components

https://www.vwroc.com/forums/topic/26544-error-workshop/

It's a faulty switch in the selector assembly that causes the vehicle to throw an error light that is both intermittent and disappearing

VAG workshop bulletin can be found here

Thank you looking into this now. Is your car running okay now?

Well i been telling my garage where i bought the car from about shift to p. Now my Mechatronic has gone..no communication what so ever..need a new one.

Hi Guys,

Sorry... I didn’t realise there were more replies. Do we not get notifications on here ie emails or something... in new to this.

Following on from this message and triangle on dash... I haven’t had it since I posted about it previously but today strangely it popped up!?!

Funny enough I was in P and moved shifter into D and then 2 secs later after releasing handbreak it popped up... but again only for about 60 seconds. (Would obdeleven or a diagnostic even show a fault code if there was no light on dash... as in would it still store what it thinks the vehicle electronic fault would be. My thoughts being I will only get about 60 seconds to read the code... should I get her plugged in.

I’m assuming and hoping it would only be the Park solenoid thing (and not the actually gearbox) as it seems to be when I move the shifter... but now after reading ‘MY CODING’ last reply... I’m pooing that it may also be the mecha... and what is the cost should this happen... gearbox specialist?!?

Just prepping for the worst as Car is out of warranty... fingers crossed it’s the door or parking solenoid. I will try get to the bottom of it shortly

How much did it set you back mate or do you know how much they covered it for please?

I got this twice today, for a few seconds, doesn't show up on vcds either.

Hi guys.. First post and thread necro...
So I got this error today.. Switched the car off and back on, same thing. As I was not home, I drove and everything felt fine.
Drove it a bit later again and same error, until i removed the usb charger and adapter which was plugged into the cigarette lighter socket. Error gone.
Will check later if the error returns, but for now I have not seen the error on 2 drives since disconnecting the charger...

Mate.... I removed the car battery charged it, and not had that error again, i spoke to someone who told me charge the battery as that usually happens when its not fully charged.

Thanks mate.. will do this anyway, just in case.

Hi,
Wow this thread seems to have been going for a while. Mind if I join in?
I have a 2015, A3 2.0 TDi that started having the same problem. Had the battery replaced and still get the warning message. Everything regarding when it comes on is the same as everyone in the thread describes it. Did I read correctly, someone mentioned nothing shows up on vcds? I'm taking that car in next week to have diagnostics check as well.

Need to fix this on my 2016. VCDS does log an error btw

This is a common fault on the DSG/S-Tronic gearbox and affects Audi VW Skoda etc.
It is a failure of a microswitch in the gear selector mechanism. The good news is there is a retrofit part that can be fitted from inside the car in around 30 minutes and costs less than £100 and is not too difficult if you are of average mechanical competence. There are two versions which are Black and White which will match the colour of your gear selector housing. The white one is around £100 and the black version around £60. I fitted the white version to my wife’s 6 speed DSG on her 2016 Golf 2.0 tdi and has been faultless ever since.

There is a video on YouTube that shows more detail in fitting the white version and explains what the fault is.
Apparently the US and Australia has a recall to fix this problem for free.
