Chatting to a mate about long coding and it raised the question.

Can you enter your own Binary coding in long coding if the Byte is not there?

Here's a picture of a MK5 Golf long coding.

Imagine this long coding only goes up to Byte 8 on a car but you want to to enable Rain Closing on Byte 9.
You are still able to click in to Byte 9 and type in your Binary numbers.
So what would happen if I typed in 00000010 into Byte 9?

Yes you can input the hex/binary direct, but if the module doesn't support, of course it'll throw you back, but try your luck for sure as I've done the same before

It errors or the coding don't stick?

I assume you have to give it the full binary of 0s and you can't just go 010 for example?

Yes it must have the 8 bits entered fully, but you can manually edit from 0-1 & vice versa.

It will error & not accept coding or the module may accept the coding, but that bit may not correspond to the same feature, as bits move about for features between modules, if that's makes sense, so not all modules have the same feature in the same bit/byte.

Taking the binary from a 08 module that has byte 9 with binary of 01100011 and pasting it into a 06 module might not always work.

Trial and error with some educated button bashing.
