Does anybody know of any long coding help or even individual codes for the A3 (8V) just purchased VCDS any it works great on everything and even talk to new A3 ok but there is no data in the long coding help :-(, I'm after needle sweep (in dash 17) and front fogs as cornering lights (in on board power supply 09) maybe changing pim (pic in motion) speed to 255 as well :)

The needle sweep (or staging as VAG call it), is normally set in the adaptation channels. It's not part of the long code and therefore isn't a tick box par se.

Has anybody done any coding or adaptions using VCDS on the 8V A3?

Right just ran a full scan using VCDS on my A3 (8V) and the only systems it has picked up and will communicate with are as follows:

01 Engine
03 Brakes
05 Start & Entry
08 Air Con
15 Air Bag
16 Steering Wheel
17 Dash
19 Gateway
2B Steering Column Lock
42 Drivers door
44 Steering
47 DSP
52 Passengers Door
55 Headlight Range

As you can see no

09 Centrals Electrics
5F Infotainment

:-(

Did you select autoscan or the specific 8V chassis?

I have the same problem with my Audi A3 8V.
- I selected the specific 8V chassis. Still no coding for 09 Central Electrics :-(

No fault code found.

When entering Coding in 09 Central electric and pressing Long coding helper, i get an error message saying that no coding helper is available.
- I am trying to disable the Seatbelt warning chime.

Seat belt chime info is held in airbags 15 or instruments 17.

Given the cars modules are new, the database is being created by RT at the moment, so if you want to create more logs for them to make up more module files, ping them an email to support@ross-tech.com, asking if they have your modules covered on next release or need some logs sent to them.

Got to the bottom of it, you need to run the VCDS 12 beta, then picks everything up, belt chime is in dash (17)

Not sure need to have a few hours to sort the rest out, I'm really after needle sweep, any ideas or what it may be called on VCDS?

have no clue sorry, NHN would know normally but his mentioned his not spent any real time yet on the 8v VCDS, I'd be to scared to change anything unless its in black and white on the screen lol , just in case I changed all the text to Russian !!

So I may be interested in having a play with this vcds system but I am wandering how difficult it is to understand and how expensive the kit costs? I know a lot about computing etc so I'm not completely daft but is there a previous knowledge needed or is it an easy plug and play system? New a3 sline 3 door glacier white due in April!!
