Ross tech wiki says clutch temperature sensor could be faulty.

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/18148/P1740/005952

Does anyone know where will I find the sensor as I don't want to go to stealers for this job.

Thanks

Had my car with transmission specialist today. They pointed transmission cooling solenoid and electro plate kit needs changing. £1100 for parts and labour but they won't do the job if I supply the parts. Seems like need to find another transmission guy. Any recommendations in Birmingham/Derby area?

Dropped the car with dealers for major service. Fingers crossed they will be able to find the exact fault with gearbox warning on dash I am getting while driving.

Update 21/05/2018

After waiting over 72 hours for update on my vehicle, dealers blamed remap on gearbox malfunction, even I told them warning message is about gearbox overheating, showed them vcds scan which clearly states cooling oil valve needs checking. Their high tech engineers think by changing gear box oil will cure the problem which is not even due for next 6000 miles.

Other issue was MIL ON due to passenger seat belt tensioner. They made me spend £400 on replacement seat belt which was not even faulty. Now they have found that Airbag Control Module needs changing which costs £620 inc VAT. I tried to argue about price as from Part request here I got part price £575 delivered and he said they won't do the job if I don't get the part off them.

The funny part is they are charging me £250 for finding the fault and another £100 quids to remove faulty part and replace it with new one.

I told the service guy that they are joke and I will take this further to Trading Standards and I won't ever return to their particular dealership. EVER, period.

Digging this up....

Is the wheel much chunkier than the original??

Ta :)

Dude, you've been through a lot of drama! Unlucky man. How much h mileage is your car own?
It's at 73k at the moment. Out of which I have driven 22k.

In this time I had 3 major issues so far

1) GPS antenna failed (car was under warranty)
2) oil filter housing replaced
3) airbag module failed

I am fast approaching another s-tronic gearbox oil change. I am thinking to get it done bit early as most of you are aware that I am having gearbox overheating message on dash which disappears after few seconds.. I had few visits at different gearbox specialists and two of them advised to change the oil before I do something else as it might resolve the issue.

Stealers want £225 for the oil change, not sure about independent garages though. I have read on different forums/threads that Audi does software updates on service intervals if required. Only concern is my ECU/TCU is mapped and if Audi does free software updates, will it overright my TCU map?

Any software updates will overwrite the remaps

I need to put my car on dyno to find if they have messed with my ecu remap after recent sevice and if they had then it will be fun to go back there and give them all sort of crap

If you have VCDS you should be able to look at the flash counter :)

I don't know where it is. Here is full scan after full service was done two weeks ago

4 times for the engine

Twice for the transmission

Flash date not showing properly though? When was the engine last remapped prior to the service?

Given the power you are running I would have thought you would have noticed a difference if the dealers had flashed it back to stock!

True

Front Dunlop's are gone after almost 12000 miles. Rear one's still got plenty of thread left. Swapped them back to front and vice versa. Also ordered new tyres i.e. Vredestein Ultrac Vorti - 255/35 R20 (97Y) XL for £113 each.

http://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Vredestein/Ultrac-Vorti.htm

Wanted to get some PS4's but they are well over £80 each side and not much difference in all aspects than Vred's

I’m thinking of getting these or maybe the cross drilled ones.

They don’t seem to do a slotted version.

Would drilled be not as good on road use compared to slotted?

I’m just looking for good consistent fast road use stopping power with good bite when you first hit the pedal.

Thanks.

The idea behind this OEM BBK is to keep the cost down. You pick any BBK and you are looking atleast around £2k+.

What I am doing is under £1k.

As I need new discs as I was simply going to get them with a set of red stuff pads.

Will the cross drilled disc present any issues on the road?

Thanks

I've got no idea what these would be like on a bigger car like an A6 (mine is still on original tyres, let alone brakes!), but I use these on my track toy and it's still early days, but I've been really impressed with them for fast road use: MTEC grooved and dimpled

They're only £215 for front and rear on my A6 TFSI (356mm front, 330mm rear) - same as a BiTDI and I doubt any A6 would have bigger (S6/RS6 excluded)...

I'd avoid cross-drilled for most uses after some bad experiences with them.... they look nice, but crack more easily if you're putting serious heat into them... which you will if you're going for any genuine fast road use (repeated, heavy, late braking, etc)...

On the pads - I'd prefer yellow-stuff over red-stuff.... again far better with any serious heat, but not like proper track pads in terms of needing tonnes of heat BEFORE they start working (not good for road use!)... they're easily OEM good when cold, but with a far higher temperature before you set them on fire :) (note "on fire" is literally that.... and really impairs braking performance... essentially "extreme fade, with flames")....

Thanks for the info.

The full set of discs below look great value.

I’ll find yellow stuff pads to match. Would you recommend any site in particular?

Tranny fixed??

Not really, I went to one DSG specialist in Cannock who checked and advised there is nothing wrong with it and I need to get auto electrician to check as it's more of wiring issue. Due to work load, I couldn't took my car to them yet but most probably this weekend it will be sorted.

Last time I found the prices for MTEC (discs) were either https://brakeparts.co.uk or MTEC themselves (https://mtecbrakes.com)...

For the Yellowstuff (pads), I think I got my fronts off one of the larger eBay stores and the rears off Amazon - go figure! I'd been hunting around and those were genuinely £20-£25 a set less than most other places.

I think if you want it all from one place, then https://brakeparts.co.uk is probably cheapest, but that was just for my track-toy, NOT my A6, so not certain as suppliers seem to shift their prices around dramatically, presumably depending on stock levels... I've only done 17k on the Audi and I will NEVER* be putting it on a track, so doubt I'll be buying any for that one any time soon...

*not precious about it, but steering is too inert and even with 375hp, just too boring...

380x36 didn't fit the calipers so they are back in post to Berlin.

Fitted 356mm front discs. Looks alright but they are very close to the wheels. I think it's around 2.5mm away.

Car needs washing and calipers needs proper painting. May be in summer now as winter wheels are about to go on the car.

Will post full pictures once car is cleaned with winter wheels.

Thanks

Well xuk a7 3.0 TDI single turbo s tronic is nearly finished from having bitdi conversion they did consider swapping for zf 8 speed but they went with updated clutch packs from ssrp and gtr gearbox oil front mounted tranny cooler but they where going 500hp I don't think you need all that how much is it making?
Look into the ssrp clutch packs and gearbox oil upgrade

What is the cost of getting replacement key for A6 as my local car wash misplaced it and now I only got one spare. No backup key
