Used A4 - Audi Connect / My Audi woes

Hello,

I'm a new member, having Just picked up my first Audi a few weeks ago - a 2019 A4 (pre-facelift). I downloaded the My Audi app, and linked the car to it - and was prompted for a vehicle code. Apparently this would have been provided to the original owner, attached to the keys or on a card. Neither were provided to me.

I emailed Audi about it, and was pleased to learn they could set me up without it, using a process called prenomination. They told me to call and and have the V5 and proof of ID handy, and they'd take me through the process - after which I'd simply have to sign in to the MMI within 72 hours.

I did as asked and called in, but unfortunately it didn't work. I'm still being prompted for the vehicle code by both the MMI and the app. The person at Audi said they'd escalate my case, as for some reason my car wasn't being updated by their servers. Although it is communicating with them - as it validates I am signing in with the correct credentials for example. I was advised they'd investigate and get back in touch with a resolution.

Fast -forward ten days, and I'd heard nothing - so I emailed and ask for an update. They are still investigating. But I should call and go through the prenomination process again, just in case the problem has been fixed. It doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence and it wasn't the shortest of calls when I tried it the first time.

What do you guys think? Is there a realistic possibility things will just magically work if I call back in? Do you have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

George

Did you buy as an Audi Approved? Go back to the dealer.

I also bought used, and got the key code from the dealer, but had to pay for it.

As above - if its audi approved just ask for the key code.

When i bought my car in May i never had the key code… i bought it from my local dealer (something like £68) took about a week from germany and the dealer reimbursed me…

I bought it from Motorpoint. I'd gone in to check out a Jaguar XE, didn't like it and much preferred the Audi. Took it home the same day!

If the real answer is to get the key code from the dealer, then happy to do this if that's what I need to do.

It's only any use if you're going to subscribe to Audi connect.
Really? The My Audi app looks like I need to do this to allow me to do things like remotely lock the vehicle and view the online service history. Have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Since Audi UK started charging last December Audi connect comes in two 'parts' - the first deals with remote locking/unlocking and is about £50/year, the second is required for the online traffic and satellite overlay features and is around £150/year.

Seems like quite a lot for what it is. The traffic & satellite overlay is definitely of little use to me. The remote locking/unlocking could be handy though. Especially when I'm out shopping and second guessing myself whether I remembered to lock the car or not!

It would be a lot more valuable if they included map updates in the subscription rather than needing to get the dealer to get an update once the 5 free 'online' updates have expired.

Android auto and use Google maps.
Without a subscription the Audi app will only tell you your cars spec, you won't be able to do anything with it without coughing up £££

I find the £50 useful - purely to check the cars locked and where i parked!

my previous bmw allowed me to send destinations to the car sat nav - which i used all the time… even with carplay sometimes i like to see the map on the VC!

It seems that Audi have resolved this now. Got an email this morning stating I was now the key user, and can now connect to the vehicle.

Depending on your subscription the ability to send destinations to your car should be available.

Unfortunately some of the functions were lost when they 'upgraded' the website a couple of years back
