my drivers side rear passengers window has stopped working and it has stopped working in the down position. I have taken the door card off and can hear the relay clicking when I actuate the switch but the winder motor does not react.

So two things - I urgently need to get the window back up before the weekend storms - can I do this manually?

secondly - does this sound like a motor failure or is there something else causing the problem?

I had noticed before that this particular window did not fully close when closing all four windows with the fob from fully open. It would go up about 75% and stop when the others would close fully.

many thanks as always,

Tom

Take the motor out, and push it up manually, then refit the motor to hold it mate.

My windows sometimes stop with a 1-2 inch gap at the top if you can hear the motor engage but nothing happening the sounds like the cables give, but as above take out the window unit remove motor and try close it if it wont budge with the motor removed you will need to cut the cables and then wedge the window shut with a block of wood etc

If you need a door frame or window actuator/motor let me know, breaking 2x a4 b5 facelift and one pre-facelift so have all the parts...

Thanks Arrkon - the car is now watertight for which I am extremely grateful.

Do these motors just fail of is there something I can do?

cheers Adamss24 - I'll probably want a new motor unit

Agreed Mo, sharing information and support is what the internet is for. That and porn.

Same problem mine had albiet mine was stuck in the up postion. I thiught motor but tried it on the other side and worked. Pulled the boot back and there was a broken power and split earth that had corroded.

Cheers man, I'll check that out tomorrow.
