Not good could mean cars had bump or more likely hit big pot hole and went off.

Replacements ain't that cheap either so they've just used wire option.

Least you know now your fuel pump will cut off and other components to reduce risk of fire if you have an accident.

Glad its sorted was it easy to replace ?
Got garage to do mine.
:racer:

Naa quite easy 2 nuts n wire cheers for the help guys

Well that didn’t last long, either it’s a crap fuse coz I couldn’t compare it or what could be over powering it causing it to blow so easily, any suggestions am very close to just burning the thing because I don’t have the best patience

Is that the fuse with the airbag connection?

Yeah, now to be honest I forgot to connect the air bag connector in as the idiot who bodged it has put a resistor in there and just taped the end, was in a rush running late so it skipped my mind however it’s now ****** and back to square 1

Yeah pretty much, the issue I had was it didn’t feel quality the fuse and rattled a bit and was cheap, there is either a short somewhere or it was just cheap and I have to wait for pay day to roll round

Oh was it not a genuine fuse? They are only about £35. The airbag connector is the only thing that can blow it. As the live comes directly from the battery. So highly unlikely to be a spike from there.

So if I was to go buy a Genuine Audi (any ideas on price bye) it could be ok? But all in all am ok with engines but electrics are my kryptonite.. always get electrocuted

If you don’t connect the airbag connector I can’t see how it can blow. As it’s only job is to blow when it’s receives a signal from the airbag connector, so my guess it that if it’s not a genuine fuse it wasn’t rated high enough.

I just bought one for my RS3 and it was £37, surely it’s got to be the same part?

That direct from Audi?

Ok so if for example ifs the fuse I bought wasn’t exactly a decent one and potentially a rip off, I buy the Genuine Audi one and it then fails... what issues could I look at? Could the starter cause it if it’s faulty? Any one any ideas

So i tried using jump cables to join how the YouTube suggests which I done before how ever this has not worked this time, so maybe the fuse is fine and it’s another fault, anyone any ideas

Also there was no Engine warning light or battery light, is there a fuse for the fuel pump or starter etc?

Am now thinking after numerous searches on line and forums that the intermittent starting, throw in the bad battery and the fuse that was more bodged than Pete burns that it’s probably going to be the starter motor, anyone know of a guide pref with images of how to remove it on the A4

If it started fire with bodge I would say starter is fine.

Could you put bodge back on and just take it to specialist tell them the issue and get them to sort it.

No I tried to re bodge now that doesn’t work :-/

Booked in on the 6th at a specialist round the corner, he reckons possible starter motor or possible bad earth, all in all he said it shouldn’t be too expensive.

I’m having exactly the same issue my A4, won’t start just clicks however will start with jump leads. At the end of my tether with it, doesn’t help I’m useless with cars

FIXED!!! AA came out and it was a bad connection on the + battery terminal under the bonnet. Was corroded, once all cleaned down car started multiple times with no issues. Fingers crossed that’s the end of it

Right so RAC came out today to “check my car” more to get it towed to the garage, he got it started quite quickly coz he was due to finish at 1, he plugged power into the fuse bird at the front as there is no power getting to the front end of the car, he said a fuse/connection isn’t working so it needs to be found and ruled out the starter or anything major so it’s now at the specialist to find the problem and fix it ... fingers crossed it’s not to much drama

Fixed hopefully the “blow cable” had gone and it also had some fragments of a resistor deep in the air bag cut off cable all sorted and now works fine finger crossed that was it
