Urgent help - Can't unlock car

Morning all,

Having a strange issue trying to get into my car.

Keyfob won't unlock driver/passenger doors.
Key won't unlock driver door.

Keyfob will lock all doors,
keyfob will lock/unlock boot.

I can climb into my boot and climb through to the front where I can use the internal buttons to open all doors but I don't really fancy doing this each time.

Any suggestions.

The obvious one is battery needs replacing,have you tried other key fobs ?

Why won't the key open it? That doesn't depend on the fob battery.

The key will simply not turn in the lock.

I can climb through the boot and use the inside buttons to unlock it.

Must be a mechanical issue with the lock itself. I would take the lock out of the car and see if the key turns. Also operate the cable linkage by hand to narrow down the cause.

Spray some WD40 into the lock barrel, it'll be seized from lack of use.

This worked!

Now the only issue is that the fob will not unlock the front doors. Would a low battery cause it to only lock or open boot ?

If you mean the battery in the key, just try a new one.

New battery worked! Not quite sure why the boot and lock buttons both worked fine and the open didn't but it doesn't matter now.
