Had my S3 for 3 years now and recently noticed the front wheels are getting wheel spin between 40 and 60 when you plant it.

I thought it was the wet roads the other day but it's still doing it in the dry today???

I haven't noticed it before so wondering if something's worn out?

Haven't changed the map or power recently so discounted that.

Replace roll bar and super pro lower arm kit but still doing it?

Have noticed a clunking sound when going between drive and reverse so wondering if the top mounts have had it as the shockers are only 1-2 year old bilsteins ?

Anyone any ideas or recommend an updated top mount?

Sounds like Haldex - have you replaced the oil & filter? Which wheels are spinning? What model of tyres have you got on each corner and what tread have they got?

Haldex oil was changed bout a year and half ago, front wheels spinning, brand new PS4s about three months ago.

Fitted a q3 can bus module then removed it a couple of weeks ago so I wonder if the AWD module needs adapting or something

If there's no codes do you reckon it the haldex oil? Or good reason to upgrade the controller?

Did you get a chance to scan it with VCDS? I would imagine something would be logged as a result of this. Also, did the little mythical oil filter get changed that Audi say doesn't exist?

My money would be on the Haldex Clutch Pump. They're prone to giving up.
It would show on a scan as 01073 Haldex Clutch Pump intermittent.

Done some reading up and looks like the pump is knacked, filter blocked or something.

    Loads of torque steer

Did you get the filter replaced when you did the oil? There is no point in changing the oil if you don't replace the filter IMO. You might be lucky and this fixes the issue, otherwise it could be a new pump.

Make sure you definately change the filter as apparently when those get clogged up that's what makes the pump fail

£200+ for a new pump. Replaced mine 3 months back. 10 minute job but you will need to drop the oil to do it and replace with new oil and filter at the same time.

While your doing it check the condition of your haldex controller to make sure the seals are all in tact. My haldex packed up recently due to corrosion getting inside onto the pcb. £1000 for a new one. I luckily managed to strip mine dine, clean it up and reseal It. Been fine ever since.

I was going to try just the filter and oil first, but don't fancy two oil changes if I have to do the pump later. Might as well do the lot and then it's sorted till I sell it

I had the same issue 3-4 months ago, had the car scanned and threw up the same code your seeing.

Spoke to Audi dealer who recommended the Haldex oil change, I didn't hold much hope after reading various reports of failed pumps, however 4 months on and the car has been good as gold, hasn't spun the front wheels once "touch wood"

    Problem solved.

What did you seal the controller back up with? Been thinking of checking mine and cleaning it up if it needs it but I've been wondering what to seal it back up with?

If your getting that error it's definitely a knackered pump so bite the bullet and do the lot at the same time.

To seal haldex back up you need Polyurethane Sealant. It's quite cheap if you look on eBay or Amazon.

To clean pcb get some WD Contact Cleaner. Spray board and use a tooth brush over the entire board, circuits ext on both sides.

My worry is this is a temporary fix, if the pumps been stared the electrical connections may be shot. Fancy making it like new again

Yeah fair enough, I hadn't had my car much more than 5 minutes when it started to spin the fronts so was happy the oil change sorted it, if it started to do it again then I'd change the pump.

Not sure what mileage your on, mine was on 30k so was kind of hoping the pump hadn't gone already...
