underboost

please can anyone advise me on this problem , driving along then my glow plug warning light came on and i lost power , turned engine of and it was fine then , got the engine checked and the code said turbo/super charger
underboost this has now happened twice since, hoping its not the turbo as know there very expensive, any ideas??
car is by the way a 59 2.0 tdi s line A3 with wait for it 115000 miles on

I bet it's the vacuum unit in top of the turbo

Very common

The rubber diaphragm splits

Simple diag or elimination

Pull small vacuum pipe off the unit above the turbo (one with a plug on it) and use a Mitty vac to try and create a vacuum you will find it won't be able too

I bet that is the clogged turbo geometry.

Clogged would give over boost not underboost
