under bonnet heatshield?

i just swapped my B6 A4 for a nice new B7 - i've just noticed there's no heatshield material attached to the underside of the bonnet on the new one - anyone know if there should there be?

m30rck, i noticed the other day when it was raining (again!) - steam coming off the bonnet - last time i saw this was on an old cavalier i had 15 years ago which had the bonnet underside mat removed?
checked and nowt there on new car, deffo was there on B6 A4.

Ive got a B6 A4 and dont have one. Ive also noticed steam coming off the bonnet when raining etc.

Im not sure if mine has been removed by someone earlier or didnt have one to start with.

not sure whether they should have them or not? My omega had a heatshield. Your right about stem coming off the bonnet, i to had a cavalier that did the same. LOL. By the way Jim, which part of "sunny" scotland are you from?

i spoke to service mgr in the dealer - no heatshield is std, apparently by design now.
