Ive had my 2011 S3 from new it is 18 months old and i have covered 14500 miles in it.
the tyres are the standard conti 18" tyres, my questions is how long should they last for they are looking pretty
tired.

and what should i replace them with

im thinking
michelin sport or goodyear f1

when I had my bridgestones RE05A's they last 14k and they were pretty bare. anything above that is a bonus.

try Goodyear's or PS3's

I heard the Mich are very noisy. Friend of mine had them from new on his S3 - changed them out within 6 months for some Conti. Nobody could hear him on bluetooth phone whilst driving.

The CSC3 came first in a tyre review for cabin noise so I should imagine the CSC5 would be even better

Any of those, with the exception of the Bridgestones are good choices.
I've used the Goodyears,Michelin PS2 and PS3s and been happy with them, and I now use Toyo R1Rs for summer, and the PS3s for winter.

for sure stay away from Bridgestone! NOISY! Rubbish grip in the wet.

Michelins aren't noisy, pretty quiet I found.

Michelin PS2's are top notch, quieter than 050's thats for sure.
Conti SC5's getting good reviews, will try them next I think.
