Hi All
I have just noticed that the inside of my tyre is slightly past its legal limit. The rest of the tyre is in very good shape with 1000's of miles left. The car has eibach coilovers but is not lowered but i was going to lower it a bit do i need adjustable control arms to get it set up correctly?
The wheels look as if they are not cambered but the inside tyre wear tells a different story

Have you had the tracking done since fitting the Coilovers ?

You need to get the front end alignment checked out properly .

If the car is NOT any lower than it was originally, it is probably a tracking issue right enough.
If it IS lower (even slightly - can be caused just by weakening springs), that will have created some negative camber (wheels tilting inwards at top) & will result in inner edge tyre wear - I know 'cos it happened to me when I fitted lowered coilovers to my Avant B6 Quattro.
The only proper solution to that is adjustable top arms like I put on the B6 (ONLY obtainable from America as, for some reason, NO-ONE in the UK keeps them!) they can be used to dial the camber/castor angles in to stop the wear. The tracking can be set perfectly but if there is a camber issue, it won't stop the wear. You haven't said which version of car you have but, generally, these should really be set up by a specialist with the ability to set tracking on a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, I just fiddled with the adjustments myself till the wear stopped......
