tyre size..... 255, 265, 275, 285 /35/19

I have 255/35/19 on the fronts but what's the biggest size you can put on the rears without rubbing?

I've had a 255/35/19 on the rear of a standard body a6 without any problems so I'm assuming you can go bigger than a 255/35/19 on the wide arched a6's?

Does anyone know?

I'd say 255-section tyres would fit fine. Standard fitment for B5 RS4, and have seen RS4's running 265-section rubber without any issues.
