Anyone got any tyre recommendations for 18/225/40? (A3 S Line)

I've been a fan of Goodyear efficiency grip but barely getting 10k out of the last set on the front.

OE was Bridgestone RE050A but they get some pretty nasty reviews.

Budget up to £90/£100 a corner

Thanks

I've been using Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on my A3 170 Quattro. Had 4 fit about 16 month ago. Done around 18k and fronts are now down to 3mm. Rears still around 5 mm.

Great grip in the wet and dry too! Can get them for around £60 a tyre.

Bridgestone are awful, they are too hard. I changed to Goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 3 all round and the difference is night and day in both dry and wet.

I am a fan of the Goodyear Eagle F1. Had the assy 2 tyres on the A4 and then swapped to the assy 3 .
Probably another 6 months and I will be lloking for some more tyres and I think I will be going for the Michelin Pilot sport 4.
Very good results in all the tests it's been in. The Eagle although a good tyre is lacking against the latest tyres.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4

Just under £100 a tyre on Camskill for a 225/40/18 92Y.
Personally the best tyre you can buy for all round. Good in the wet, dry and lasts a long time.

This, this and this.

Michelin PS4/PSS are the best all round tyre on the market for their price range, lots of S3's & A3's on here with either or and the same opinion.

As above, Uniroyal Rainsport 3's are a mid-range tyre so not too expensive but perform very well and don't wear out too fast either. IIRC they are A rated in the wet.

They are fast wearing and a gimmick of marketing as good summer tyres are great in the wet because of epic rain channels .

Yep A rated and great I wet.

Dont wear fast at all that's most likely poor or aggressive driving style. My.fronts have clocked up 18k on a remapped 170 ;)

Had Uni Rainsport 3 on my S4, super grippy on any surface wet & dry, they do wear a bit quicker that others though. Now I have a A3 Quattro I fitted a set of Falken ZE914XL. They work well enough and are quiet compared to other tyres. Had them a year now and I'm pleased enough with them, cost about £70 each so that makes them a mid-range tyre.

I did get a pair for the front of my wife's VW California. Had those about 6 months and no complaints from her. Like Sooty says good value for the money

I've had the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 twice now on my 2.0 TDI Quattro, really grippy in the wet. Just had them changed. Managed around 20k miles on them.

+1

Would recommend them too - had them on my golf and the a3
