I’m in exactly the same boat. Original p zeros are dead now at 22k so need to sort in next week or 2.

Audi specific p zeros get bigger rim protection and lower road noise. Wondering if the same can be said of ao Goodyear’s. The lower road noise is accurate as its 68db vs 71 of the none Audi version so worth extra if it has a bigger rim protector.

let me know what you go for please

yes. Fronts are down to 2.5-3mm and rears down to 2-2.5mm. Just read the evo tyre test and the p zeros won by a big margin so might just replace like for like as I’ve been really impressed with them

When I had the S3 I sold it with 17,500 mile on the clock still on the original tyres. This A5 needed new fronts at 6,000  Heavy car doing lots of stop/start driving doesn't help.

Similar wear to my P-Zero's. They were at 1.6mm at 18k (one was just below).

I'm getting better wear on my Michelin PS4, they're at 3mm after 18k miles and still grippy where the P-Zero dropped off a bit when they got to 3mm

What is the rim protector like on the Michelin Ps4 . I've been looking at Dunlop Maxx RT 2 £277 on black circle website for a set of 4 and they have fuel rate C
Wet rate A and tyre noise of 68db which is pretty good

In truth rim protection on tyres is pretty useless. DAMHIKT :grumpy:

The PS4 has a rim protector but not as big as the AO P-Zero. For me, the rim protector on the P-Zero was the only thing they had going for them. I guess it comes down to driving style.

I had the Dunlops (they might have been Maxx GT) on my A5 (19" wheels) but changed them early because I didn't like the grip from them. I'm tempted to try Good Year Asymmetrics next

Yeah I agree the rim protector is the best part of the P zero's which isn't a good thing I suppose for a performance tyre .

Is that the asymmetric 5's ? seen good reviews on them .

Yeah the Asymmetric 5's. Continental are good but don't last long. A few people on here have mentioned Uniroyal Rain Sport being decent so they could be a mid range option. I've found the PS4 to be best in terms of wear and grip for me and when there's an offer on at Costco, decent value too.

Black circles are doing the Michelin Ps4 for £323 delivered .

What price are Costco doing them at when their offer is on ?

How do you find the road noise on the Ps4 's they are rated at 71db compared to the P zero's 68db is there much difference ?

£80 off on the 18" when you buy 4
£40 off when you buy 2

They have similar offers on Good Year from time to time. Just have to remember that Costco charge £8.40 for fitting per tyre on top of the online price. By the time you've had the tyres from Black circles fitted it will be around the same as the offer price from Costco

In terms of noise, I didn't really pay much attention or notice them to be considerably louder. 3dB wont make much difference IMO. Fuel consumption remained unaffected also

Also note that if you buy tyres from Costco, if you get a puncture they repair it for free :) and they use Nitrogen rather than air!

how is steering feel. The tests I’ve seen say that the PS4 are best for grip but have pretty rubbish steering feel. Apparently soft side walls which is why they ride well? Love the meaty feeling of the p zeros.

They also do a Audi version of the Goodyear f1 supersport which is only 68db

The S3 is pretty numb for steering anyway so it didn’t make any noticeable difference over the p zeros to me. Car handles great with the PS4’s and a superpro 24mm rear anti roll bar :icon thumright:

I might try out the Goodyear F1 super sport or the asymmetrics next time I need tyres.

I’ve swapped P Zero Nero GT’s for Michelin PS4’s and the grip is better imo, and in the wet there is no comparison.

lol no, when I first got it because I was used to the S3 just booting it and going the A5 would just spin the wheels...got embarrassing at times! But I do a lot of town stop/start/short trips, so they get punished that way.

What I save on fuel more than covers my membership, £5 each time I fill up there.

Yep on tyres you've bought from them, otherwise £9.99...which is still cheap!

Honestly no, I’ve usually gone for Goodyear Asymmetric 3’s and 5’s in the past and I think the Michelin’s are slightly louder than the GY 3’s but on par with the 5’s. The noise difference from the Pirelli’s is negligible, I’ve not noticed any noise difference and the extra confidence the Michelin give is defo worth it. Although I’m still 50/50 whether I’ll go back to the Goodyear’s purely because of the price difference but it depends how well the Michelin PS4’s last me.

nero gt aren’t the ultra performance that come on the 8v S3 so probably why you notice the wet performance difference as they are only b rated

I’ll probably stick with the p zeros after reading this test on a similar platform car

Its the wear on the P zero's that I've found really bad .

I have no issue with them as a tyre apart from the wear rate plus for me they have the best rim protector which
for me is a big deal as my wife drives it too :grinning:

How many miles have you done with the PS4's so far ?

I've got about 4/6 weeks left in my tyres so I'll do some reading up on them .

That evo review is on PS4 not the PS4S. As I understand it the PS4S has upped the game and taken top spot. Perhaps only available on 19s up though. Also viewed as UHP I guess.

Changed from P Zero to PS4S and think they provide more feedback and more confidence especially in the wet but I didn’t have the P Zero from new.

Lots of great feedback on them at supercar level too. Many swapping factory P Zero on the McLarens for the PS4S as it’s viewed as a better all rounder providing confidence in all weather.

Yea PS4s not available in 18” unfortunately. Goodyear do the supersport in 18” though which is apparently right up there with the PS4s but brings harsher ride and less mileage. I can’t find any feedback of people running them on s3’s as they are too new.

The contisport contact 6 is getting some decent reviews too but expect they will wear quicker than the Michelin.

I need 2 new tyres but unsure weather to go for the PS4S or the Goodyear F1 asymmetric 5.

Everyone is raving about the PS4S.

I think those 2 tyres are at different levels with the asy 5 being on a par with the PS4 and the PS4S being on a par with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Sport.

The only negative stated is usually the price, think I read they can be 30-40% more costly than the Goodyear for a difference the majority of people, especially at hot hatch level rather than supercar level, wouldn’t notice.

    The Goodyear wear quicker too.

I would say at the price you’ve found them it’s a no brainer.

They do the PS4S in 18" but only 215/35/18 and 235/40/18 sizes and the S3 (at least mine is) is 225/40/18 width. Not sure why they don't do them in 225

Goodyear efficientgrip performance are also very good.. handle well and have a B & A rating. They are also quite chunky so road noise is minimal which I like
