Ha ha, just kidding ;) Do you chaps let the turbo cool down at all though before turning the engine off? Perhaps it's not an issue any more with the modern turbo's?

TX.

Fan has a type as we said before turbo timer and the fan kicks on after shutting down if engine is too hot, happens all the time .

I always make the last mile before stopping a cool down one, the fan is really keen to stay on after shutdown though, even if the entire drive has been chilled!

Cooling the turbo is all about going easy last couple miles like Jodie said then when you stop can leave it 30s to a min idle as it's the oil threats cooking the turbo internally. They problems came when folk in past hammered turboed cars and oil cooking wasn't so good once the car went off the oil would run back from turbo too quick and srcrew seals by drying them out and the impeller shaft bearing as they would get a roasting.

Does the RS3 have start/stop - if so is should (or is that 'has to') recirculate oil when the engine is not running?

It does but it doesn't kick in if the temp is too high
