How confident are you twisting spanners?
Im guessing your over-boost problem is due to the VNT mechanism?
This VNT mechanism gets sooted up and can be cleaned.

I will be carrying this out on my turbo within the next few weeks - Im planning to spend a Saturday doing it.

I found this guide which may be of some use;

De-Coking a VNT Tubocharger

ive already cleaned up the turbo with cleaning soloutions, even removed the turbo and took it apart to make sure all was working correctly before refitting it, but......the problem is still there :(

Does the actuator move when the car starts? If its moving then its not the turbo, stuck vains.
