Some turbo porn, as we all love shiney, billet turbo wooshy things on here.
I'm doing some testing next week on Four gt3076 sized turbos..

Units being tested are HTA3076, GTX3076Gen2, AET3076, EFR7163
All units on vband hotsides and on 0.63 a/r hotsides, except EFR as the smallest they do is 0.85 in vband.

Test motor is 1900cc 20v motor. Cam'd, largeport, standalone ecu etc etc (mine)

anyhows.. Updates and results will be posted on my facebook page, but for now some pictures of the test units.

Left to right: AET3076, EFR7163, GTX3076G2
The EFR and GTX unit have speed sensors fitted and I've bought a garrett turbo speed sensor gauge thign also so will be interesting to compare shaft speeds to compressor maps to actual performance/power ont he dyno.

Anyhows, enjoy the pictures. Happy Xmas Folks.

Very much interested to hear about the Gen2 and especially the EFR on that engine!

Excellent stuff Bill, and very interesting results.

Must have been some hot work swapping all those over in a single day and running them !

copy pasted from my Facebook page.
So, yesterday we tested the 4 turbos, reminder these were HTA3076, AET3076, GTX3076Gen2, EFR7163. Test car was 1900cc, ported largeport 268/249 cams. Vpower fuel, no wmi. Tests conducted at 3 different boost levels as close as possible. The garrett turbo speed sensor did play up on the GTX3076 for some reason.. It would rise to 140krpm, then for same boost jump to gauge max of 180krpm. EFR went to 170krpm on 30psi level but did'nt throw a wobbly like the garrett one did. HTA3076 surged on high boost onset. Its a non ported shroud. EFR also non ported shroud and a hint of surge also on high boost onset, but far less than HTA did. AET and GTX had no surge. Both these have 4" ported shrouds. I've created a little spreadsheet to hopefully capture the essence of the comparisons, in a lbft/bhp per psi basis as the results are close. HTA and EFR spooled earliest by a couple hundred rpm. (non ported shrouds remember on those two). The HTA and EFR unit needed more duty cycle with revs to hold up boost levels, where the AET and GTX held flat boost for fixed duty cycle.
anyhow.. tests are done.. What can we conclude from this?

I think of i were choosing it'd be between the AET and the gtx gen2.

Which have you decided to use this season Bill?

hta has gone back on. Its wirelocked already, so meh.... they're all pretty close.
For customer cars/builds I will stick with AET3076. Its a nice unit.

Everyone sings the EFR as the Holy Grail but I'd have to Agree with Prawn, AET or GTX

EFR is much hyped. Yet to be wow'd by one..
GTX is much hype especially the gen1.......... gen2 may be better but they're slower to get going than the competition but will punch their weight when up and running power wise (just not anywhere near garretts claims on our 1.8t framed engines)

Bill do you see much better boost onset with 71mm compressor vs the 76??

Comparing GT3071 vs AET3076 on the TT racecar we saw Zero loss in spool or torque onset on the AET3076 vs normal 3071 unit, only significant gains in power and torque everywhere else.
Same turbine on both remember

Zero Drawbacks and All round improvement is good achievement. your making me want BT again Bill.............the other half ain't gonna be happy XD
