Hi all,

About 2 yrs ago, my A3 SB 2005 2.0 TDI Turbo failed on a motorway journey.

I took it to a garage. They 'cleaned it', it worked, I bought a warranty, and the problem went away.

Today, two years later,it's done the same again.

Motorway - turbo dies. Engine fine.

I pulled up, 'blew' into the engine (lol) and the turbo is working again.

As a layman it sounds like to me that there's some kind of build up or garbage in the turbo. Can anyone provide any advice on best steps please?

In addition, and as an unrelated aside, there's a rattling coming from part of the engine, like something is vibrating...ie when in first gear and revving the engine, the 'rattle' can be brought on. Any idea how to check this please? It's not the engine cover, I've pressed it down etc...it seems to be deeeep in the engine. I say it's unrelated as I know it is (the rattling problem has been there ages and wasn't around after or before the first turbo failure)

Has anyone heard of a product called 'revive' or similar
Thanks.,

Havnt heard of a product called revive sorry, first thing I'd do is find out where that rattle is comming from, use a long non insulated screw driver and touch parts of the engine and hold the handle to your ear. Unless you have mechanics stethoscope.

Only way to do the turbo is to remove, strip, clean, rebuild & refit.

Whereabouts are you located?

Near Wakefield?

Any idea why the symptoms Would appear
