Hello! I have a c7 rs6 with a blown out turbo / turbo charger. I am well aware of the job that has to be done, I know it is a pretty complex work. How much would someone with the capability and right equipment charge for such a thing.
So about 20 hours total work? Its about 6-8 hours iirc labour time to remove the turbos. Front bumper has to come off and front end put into service mode as the charge cooler needs to come off. Then its the cost of the turbos whether you get recon ones or brand new oem from the dealer. plus you might as well change the oil screen whilst they are in there. Gaskets, seals o rings oil change etc need to be added on top.
Just depends where you are as well
Also I’ve heard you need an engine lift. Can someone do this without it?Its about 6-8 hours iirc labour time to remove the turbos. Why notYou wont need an engine lift.
Have you changed on rs6 c7?Why not? Because you wont. Turbos are on top and none of the work is done from underneath. Yes i know! ... i have done it.
Yes i belive they took the cats of completely . But now I’ve established it has to be changed so it would no longer need an engine lift? How many hours did it take for you change? No idea why they would think they would need a engine lift when all the work is done from above. Unless they want to take the cats off completely?
Yes ive done this on a C7 RS6
When i look for recon ones on eBay they always say “upgrade” in the title. Could you send me a link to a good option for replacement? Its about 6-8 hours iirc labour time to remove the turbos. Just yesterday I got all the way down to taking the turbos off as I was replacing the turbo screen because of this reason, took about 10 hours steady away, the tools you need are basic really, and there’s a full right up on here I think to do the job,I’m a joiner by trade but have a little knowledge of car mechanicsHello! I’m impressed, even though I’m reasonably competent around my car, I’d be slightly daunted undertaking this job!Just yesterday I got all the way down to taking the turbos off as I was replacing the turbo screen because of this reason, took about 10 hours steady away, the tools you need are basic really, and there’s a full right up on here I think to do the job,I’m a joiner by trade but have a little knowledge of car mechanics
Did you make a decision on which turbos to purchase! EBay seems to be a bit of a minefield. When i look for recon ones on eBay they always say “upgrade” in the title. Could you send me a link to a good option for replacement?
Example, could this one work? I have no tune on it now, only sport cats.

I was just replacing the turbo screen but while I was in there I replaced the pcv valve, check valve and control valve just while I was down to that point,I live in the UK so no import charges,I replaced the screen with the newest Version as it was only £4.61 and my old one lasted 58000 miles and probably not do that many miles in the car again,I don’t know with out it it would affect oil pressure to the turbos,I know loads of people don’t put it back in and all is fine,I put the car back together with no problems and all is fine,I’m a joiner/Carpenter so if I can do it anyone can,it’s a big job and a few bolts I had to loosen just by feel but other than that is quite straight forwardI’m impressed, even though I’m reasonably competent around my car, I’d be slightly daunted undertaking this job!
What turbos/supplier did you go with, and did you get stung with import duty if sourced from Europe/China, or were you just stripping down to do the oil screen job?
Everything working ok now? A lot of people (and suppliers) recommend taking the oil screens out and not replacing, was there a reason you decided to put the latest version back in?
Cheers,
John
