If you have a new facelifted S3 310ps and are thinking about tuning it, then this maybe of interest..

TB1 - this is a subject that's been talked about for a while, some say the original document was simply a photoshop, others said nothing... Weve recently purchased a new 310ps Audi S3 DSG and alongside a customer with an identical car we have been conducting various tests including a visit back to Audi. The car in question has been running our FSR+ module for a week, and upon its visit back to Audi it was checked for TB1 or any kind of flag. Safe to say that nothing was flagged... I'll be honest I'm not saying that something may not flag up after proflonged use, but our initial testing would suggest that the DTUK FSR+ tuning module, won't cause a TB1 flag ... I'll post more info as we have it over the following weeks

Nice information.

Not sure if you think it's a security concern or not, but a whole VIN number is on display in the last picture.

TB1 flag, perhaps a bit like a TV detector van ... doesn't exist!

TX.

Maybe you've posted it elsewhere, but what numbers are you getting from the box with the new 310 engine?

As I understand it the TB1 flag is potentially generated if the car is suspected of being tuned by an add on tuning box. Does that come from the generation of fault codes or the technician spotting a tuning box installation ?. Either way I would say that it would probably be best to remove the box before it goes to the garage. This can however cause faults to be raised on the ECU when sensors are disconnected / reconnected which would again potentially alert the garage to an issue. It might be better to clear any fault codes before taking the car the dealers. Carista would be a cheap way of doing this. Maybe you should consider selling bluetooth dongles so people can check their cars over before taking them to the dealers.Or even package them in with the tuning box.

i took the S3 out last night, and it was a touch damp and i will re-do these tests using the V-box, but the 0-60 times via Dynolicious are looking quite impressive.

Stonking 0-60!

TX.
the last time i used the v-box and dynolicious app, the times on our golf R were 4.0 for the app, and 3.9 for the v-box, so if thats the case with the S3 could we see a 3.6 0-60 :)

once the weather improves ill be taking the car out again :)

What program and + and - settings to you find runs best on run your car, is it dsg?

The new 310ps uses different software to the 300ps, so anything i post only relates to the 310 :)

The times were recorded using map 3 plus 2..

Is that Fraser?

Is indeed! If I'm not here, im over on the R forum :) In talks at the moment with Stirling Audi over a black edition fl S3. Had two of your tuning boxes, and given the results above, a third will be purchased for sure!!

Also different DSG box, might make the difference also. At least 0-60... As original Audi says it should manage 0-100km/h 4,6sec, I think.

According to Audi (potential BS) 490Nm is too much torque for the S-Tronic gearbox and this is why they are fitting the Tiptronic in the S4/S5/S7/S8 now... The R8 apparently has a 'special' S-Tronic box (like I said probably BS but....)
I think they have torque limited the engines that use the DSG gearbox. Our A4 B9 with the 218PS 3.0 diesel engine and 7 speed S tronic has 400Nm but over an extended range (1250-3750rpm), which smacks of limiting to me. In the 272PS version they use the 8 speed torque converter auto and it has 600Nm (1500-3000).

My previous (used) A4 3.0 tdi (240PS/500Nm) had its 7 speed S tronic gearbox replaced before I picked it up as the PDI showed a problem, though it had been used as a tow car (nothing showed up on my test drive).
