Thank you, thats really helpful .

To your knowledge is there any aspects where the tts suffers in age which i should look out for when buying? ( this will be the first cherished car i would have owned as all up till now have been sensible low risk family cars)

I/we really don't. Ours is an Audi TT Roadster Sport 2.0 TFSI Quattro 211 PS S-tronic and I/we can't fault it. OK, we've other cars but we use this as and when, winter too - with appropriate winter tyres; just brilliant on snow and ice. Lots of aluminium in the body construction, and they don't seem to rust underneath. Great car. Keeping ours for sometime yet.

Pretty solid cars, just make sure the service history is up to date so you arent hit with any unexpected costs.

I had a 2011 tts until recently, bimetallic corrosion in the cooling system is apparently an issue on them, I had to get my coolant system flushed at least annually as the previous owner had never dealt with it during warranty period. I had to replace both rear calipers at under 54k miles.

My last TTS was a 2009 model , had it for 3 years, apart from the usual drivers window mechanism failure which is pretty common (changed under warranty) I never had a single warning light appear in that time it only cost me a set of front pads and disks and rear pads in 3 years. It was reliable, quick enough and looked great, the only thing I would have done differently is to get a protective film coating on the front end.
As mentioned, make sure it has a good history and make sure there are no surpsises coming up like a haldex oil chnage / gearbox oil service or cam belt/water pump change due....
