Not sure this should be in the A3 forum, but I'm posting here in response to something another A3 or S3 owner posted. He removes his alloys every 3 months for cleaning and has inspired me to do the same. Trouble is, I don't want to jack the car up with the puny device Audi provide and would like to invest in a trolley jack. Does anybody have any recommendations please? My market research has identified a Clark CTJ2250LP at around £40. Can anybody corroborate the favourable reports I've read about it? Or recommend something equally good?

Can't help with the jack but I use mine in conjunction with a rubber circular block which has a groove cut out in it. This sits where the oem scissor jack would go and then the rubber block onto the trolley jack. Picked it up from eBay - search for 'jacking pad'.

Lots of info on Jacks, and Jacking points here:

I personally have the Clarke CTJ1250AB 1.25 Tonne Aluminium Racing Jack and use a puck without a slot in it (because on the 8V you jack on the seam, not the floor, but that jack specifically because it has a low saddle and can fit under a low sill.

Using a 8P puck with a narrow and shallow slot (designed to lift the car on the floor) can be dangerous, as it can split.

@glospete has a puck with a wider slot in it, specifically designed for the 8V:

I'll double check the fit of my puck on the flange - thanks V8.

Stay away from the blue chocolate low entry Clarke 1.25 , nice light jack but became all Eskimo after several lifts , it blew a seal !

Invested in a proper one , ARCAN .
