That's fantastic Dave. You're a quick healer. But, your Physio is right, slow down. You don't want to damage the tendons and ligaments, very fragile having been cut, yanked and moved about. Slow and steady wins the race in recovery. Mobility not all that great. Left thigh is totally numb, no feeling in it whatsoever. If I stand too long the leg just gives way. That won't change after the op unfortunately. The op is to secure the posterior side of lower back which is crumbling away. Another 8 screws and 4 rods going in. Hopefully faster recovery this time as it's keyhole, or as he puts it "I'll make the cuts as small as I can". He said that the last time and I ended up with an 7 inch scar!!! You take it easy and don't over do things.
Question: (I must be getting old and out of touch!) The attached pic shows the connections on a tv I'm considering. My current DVD player / home cinema base unit currently connects to the tv by scart lead. What do I do if the new tv doesn't have scart? I also have a SKY box if that matters Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Ideally you want everything connected with HDMI... sounds like an opportunity to refresh some of your other bits of kit at the same time... ( probably not what you wanted to hear )!
Damn, I need to get more toys! Ha ha! I've just checked the other home cinema unit and a DVD player I have still packed away from the house move and both have SCART and component ports too. I suppose, if I need to buy something new it'll only need to be a DVD player rather than the home cinema unit as I'll be utilising a sound bar rather than all the (wired) speakers. If I get a new DVD player, I take it I'd just have hdmi from both that and the SKY box straight into the telly and be able to hear it all through the sound bar? At the moment I need to component the SKY to the cinema unit first then to the tv.
From your screenshot above, the TV does have composite connections tho, so should be able to go SCART to composite (adapter cable). Best thing I bought for the TV was a Google Chromecast device. Plugs straight into HDMI, gets power over USB and can use Google Chromecast extension on web browser on laptop to display on the tv. Great for streaming The Grand Tour on Amazon prime on the big TV!
Scart Socket ffs....you need a Blu Ray player as well mate,HDMI output from the Blu Ray to your Soundbar..HDMI out from the soundbar....to the TV,sky box straight into your soundbar via HDMI,Richersounds Glasgow is your friend, ask for Simon...really nice chap...they will fix yer home cinema wagon.....lol Also you may have to connect the tv to the Sky box via a Optical link....but visit richer sounds they will sort ye oot...
Visiting my dad in France,on route back to the UK for xmas. Went in to local shopping centre and my A3 decided to treat herself to a french kiss with an old Citroen C5 for xmas! haha! Really not happy though! She could have picked a better car! haha! Seriously though....Old man was trying to get out of massive parking space, scrapped my car whilst exiting. Bastardo! He's admitted liability & was nice about it but I'm in a dilemma on if i claim or not. will it damaged my no claims? I'm also only back in the UK for 8 days over xmas so no chance it will be repaired in that time so might just get it done myself. Its polished up a lot better than this pic below and its just a couple of little paint bits.
**** me sorry to hear this mate..what can you say............old drivers...no,they're not all the same....but do claim his insurance instantly tonight.....tomorrow morning
Cheers mate....I even chose a space nowhere near the entrance, C5 driver decided to park right near me! Bah! .....Will give them a call tomorrow morning. Claims lines are closed! didn't know they where 9-5 mostly weekdays! would have thought claim lines would be 24/7... How long usually do claims take to go through?ages no? Anyway, she will be getting a spray and polish for crimbo now!
Contact his/your insurance Company tomorrow morning, explain and tell them your situ...ie you live outwith the UK....but where over for the holidays
Think that's me sorted thanks to the great advice. LG 4K TV, 300W sound bar & Blue Ray player. Not clear from the blurb if I need to buy any of straight cable or not. Probably do reserve and collect for tomorrow morning, that's me on hols for 2.5 weeks now.
Sorry for you, I used to drive a lot in France and getting hit was my worse fear, French drivers are notoriously bad when it comes to being bothered if they hit you or not, look at any French car over 6 months old and it will be full of dings, knocks and scratches. Unfortunatly it will affect your no claims even if you phone then withdraw the claim, any sniff of you being involved in any accident even if not your fault and other party admits liability If the damage is not so bad now you have cleaned it up might be worth getting a guote from a reputable scratch repair man as could be cheaper in long term than a authorised insurance based repair
Thanks for the reply Daveotto & jassyo06... Yep French are shocking. Mostly at parking i find. Italians are the worst for speed! Did think this too re: claiming. Just a case of no claims vs price to get sorted. Ill get quotes and see. Wont post much more here as it off thread, don't wanna annoy mods! but ill post back with info! cheers guys
Really sorry to read this, and hope you get it sorted quickly and easily. Is the damage confined to the bumper? Would hope the repair would not be too expensive.
Probably take me most of that time or set it up lol No idea where "of straight cable" came from. I typed "additional cables" jeez oh predictive text eh!
Am sure you'll get it all set up, it's not rocket science ye know lol 2 and half weeks holiday good for you mate, l am working through most of my holdays except xmas/nerday...... All at double time..... Will treat myself to something nice on January?????
We are all here to help, hope ye get it sorted soon and l am sure the mods wouldn't mind at all keeping us updated
Fire away. It's Christmas. I wouldn't phone any insurance company, yet! Get quote and ask if he's willing to pay for it without going through insurance. Be careful the auld boy doesn't phone them this morning as they'll contact yours then games a bogey!! Hope you get things sorted quickly!
Just collected the new tv gear. Jeez them hdmi cables aren't cheap eh! Having visitors for an early Christmas dinner today so canny get in aboot it till tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
As soon as the bairn mentioned the price of the hdmi interconnect....knew it could only be from Currys...lol Good quality interconnects are worth it though, but l would'nt buy one from Currys ,a TV yeah l would as they are probably unbeatable for price
All set up now (including my mega bucks gold cables!). Subwoofer planted behind my couch, just watched some music channels and Live 8 DVD to try it out. Wife will be happy as there's less cables now too. Old telly hung on dining room wall now too. Sorted!
I use the HDMI leads from B&M. Work perfectly and they're about 2 quid. I always tell people in Currys looking at those ridiculously priced leads to go next door and buy them in there!
Got tv delivered today from John Lewis, price matched and will refund any lower price I can find in next 28 days so covers the Xmas/new year sales and they give a 5 year warranty. Just need to get the car as shiny as in the pic before Xmas
Cheers mate. Didn't ring in the end. Car went in to dealer for MOT and had a Smart Repair quote. £300 to get done as it needs plastic welding on a small part. I reckon my insurance will be more over a few yrs than that so I'm gonna leave it for now and get through the winter. Cars always take a beating in the winter, scrapes & stuff happen so might get her all shiny & new around April time when weather starts getting better. Just have to live with it thats all & the thought that someone can get away with ramming in to another car. Iv emailed the guy who did it but he's French, in another country & can just ignore me and it will go away! so lets see! The question is, if policy prices go up just for ringing, this will putt us off, we won't claim, people blamed won't get their comeuppance and insurance really just becomes about the big crashes. Its a pretty s****y state of affairs! Thanks mate. Always appreciate the help on this forum
**** it's turning into a AV forum lol l tell ye this as Rab c Nesbit would say.... Av never seen so many stupid threads on this forum since l have joined...... ****** shocking a tell ye.....lol obviously you don't need much of a IQ to have a A3/S3
Starting to feel inadequate with my 46 inches LoL need to get a 55 and play with the big boys !!! Nothing for the car as I'm sure it'll get something in the New Year but bought myself a PS4 Pro.
With the **** that chemo is throwing at me lately, have had to reduce the details of the car to monthly. Will definitely get another coat of sealant on it though, should last the year
