Hi all,

Decided to clean the Haldex gauze filter and change the rear diff and front transfer box oil while I was at it. There doesn't seem to be many guides on the rear diff and transfer box so attached what I did below.

Just to clarify the difference between the Haldex drain/fill and rear diff drain fill.

Recommend a fluid transfer pump to fill like this one

Steps.
1) Undo fill plug (5mm hex)
2) Undo drain plug (5mm hex)
3) Allow to fully drain
4) Re-install drain plug
5) Fill with new rear diff oil (I used GL-5 75w-90 but do your own research) until it starts coming out of the fill point (approx 1.1 litres)
6) Re-install fill plug and check for leaks

Car has 64k kms and the old oil looked very clean with a light honey colour

Front transfer box:

Follow steps as above with these drain and fill points

The fill point is quite hard to see and access but is close to the right hand side driveshaft

Colour was a little bit darker than the rear but still looked clean

Hope this helps, ask away if you have any questions.

Fantastic stuff! Thank you so much for this. Wish the transfer box and rear diff oil was included as part of a service regime and not a ‘lifetime’ oil - good to see though at your mileage the oil wasn’t to bad.

Really appreciate this post, thanks.

spot on write up, planning to do my Haldex this week and wondered if I should do the diffs too, Just got round to 30K so based on your fluid condition I probably don't need to, but hey it cant hurt either.

It's about 0.9l for the front box. Had 2 litres and was just enough for front and rear. Hope this helps.
